Re: Next Stage Custom?

SC were the only consistently priced kit for the past 4-5 yrs.: $649 with 20 bass or 22. Somehow Yamaha did this by not changing anything!

Re: Drum Hack: Floor Tom Sustain

I use a small hand towel(maybe 10), folded to 2 width and then folded to drape on the head about 3 and clamp onto the hoop with paper clamps. Depending on the FT growl, lengthen or shorten the...

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

Couple years ago Sonor (maple)3007's (intermediates) included 13" toms standard with 10-12-16-22 when other companies went the other way and included 8" toms with 10-12-16-22. Who knows what's next...

Re: How did you start getting "loose" on difficult fills?

When I developed to the point where I could play just about any thing the band threw at me, I found myself playing loose(er?), more relaxed.
How can you not be tight when you realize that 8 stroke...

Re: Taking charge of your posters

Nice to see visual arts well represented among drummers! And lets hear it for office printers, too!

Re: Real-life examples of rudiments applied to drumset?

There’s a whole ‘nother Archive thread about this subject but my 2 cents: ginger Baker’s “Ants in the Kitchen”

Re: Making click tracks for practice

Get/buy the latest Tempo app for iPhone, iPads which allows you to set up muted bars after you set the click to play a chosen number of bars automatically.

Re: Order of study: moeller, finger technique, push-pull

Then give them all try, maybe use some parts of Moeller, etc., to get the sounds you like/think you need for the genre you play. Dabble in all of them.

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

Im gonna try to return to the original question/thread starter about the choice of songs not why we like/play in some band: the standard evolution of local bands.
They start with friends who know...

Re: Order of study: moeller, finger technique, push-pull

If you already have good wrist control, develop your finger control.
And which area of drumming are you pursuing: concert, marching, or drum set? I hate to mention this but some techniques are more...

Re: Hip flexor issue with bass pedal foot.. need suggestions!

Im going out on a limb here(argh, sorry) but maybe by the third hour youve shifted your seating position and you might be slouching to one side and maybe slipped your hip partially off your throne....

Re: Weird perceptions

Re: Forum Views Drum Gear vs. Forum Views Drum Technique..

Could be 'cause a lot of technique is not as easily displayed as are drums, pedals, etc.. There are also drummers who don't appreciate discussions of "16th note triplets at 150 BPM" and would rather...

Re: Singles in 16ths & 32nds

So what keeps your hands from just developing this into a double stroke roll technique? I ask because the motions are the same I use for double strokes. I can’t imagine inserting a stroke between the...

Spud, does this numbness happen while hitting your ride? My hand used to get numb from wacking my ill-placed ride. Repositioned it and numbness went away. Hitting a drum never brought on the...

Re: Double stroke vs. double bounce?

If playing on a pillow or other non bounce surface is harder to do then it would seem some kind of bounce is still required to get up to speed, or at least it feels better. When I roll down the toms...

Re: Pain/fatigue/cramp in right hip

Maybe a condensed V vs a wide V or even a short on one side V (one foot pulled back) or even tensed V around the snare?

Re: Pain/fatigue/cramp in right hip

Change your position and not your seat height. You might be twisting your leg to play, to get your foot in position. The smallest shift in seat position could cause your hip tension. For ex.: do you...
