Re: How High Is The Front Of Your Bass Drum Off The Floor ?

Many years ago I found that the kick seemed to have a better sound when elevated just off the deck, 1/2 " or so.

I have an 8 ch. board that I've used over the years, I'm thinking of getting a couple of powered monitors to get the drums out.

Re: First DW kit I like the sound of.

I agree 100%, I just bought a used 2009 c/s in tobacco/sunburst. I'm very impressed with how they sound. I thought my old Yamaha maples sounded great, until I played these.

Re: Metal beater

Ah Ha ! I've discovered it's a trick pro V 1 metal beater. Don't really care for the sound or feel of it, so I switched it out for a Tama beater I had on another pedal.

Metal beater

I just purchased a used DW collector series kit, it came with a 9000 kick pedal that has a metal beater head. Anybody use these ? what is the benefit ? if any, I've always used either wood or felt.

I used the red evans for several years, then switched to pinstripes. Just before I sold them I fitted some of them with p3's. They had a really nice tone.

I had the same kit in natural finish, from 1980 til 2004, I sold them to a friend. I bought them used, the previous owner referred to them as an "octaplus" kit.
