Re: travis barker playing country

I'm actually a fan of Travis, but...you can't base his so called 'musical diversity' on this video :)...

If it was some kind of jazz groove/solo, i would've bought it. But i didn't really think...

Re: Things you hate to have happen while drumming

Cramps in your forearm, when playing the ride...that isn't healthy, and a sign of bad technique.

Re: Danny Carey

Is that your explanation...that some songs resemble each other :s...

lots of bands re-use certain concepts/structures of good songs, and apply them in new songs. As long as the songs have a...

Re: Danny Carey

But you can't just judge him on what he plays in Tool. He just plays what the music ask for, so...

But i haven't seen any of his outside-of-Tool work, so i can't judge him.

Re: Steve Smith

Yeah, i borrowed this DVD from a friend of mine, and it's great. He really shows you how you can play certain stuff (first slow, then faster)...the best part for me was his explanation on...

Re: Chad Smith

Give it away isn't really a 'heavy' song, it's extremely funky though.

Re: Danny Carey

I think the new cd is really good...

except for a few songs that aren't really songs, more fill ups :s

My favorite songs are Right in two, and Vicarious.

And yeah, Danny's drumming once...

Re: Lars Ulrich

Not really, sorry...

His A customs sound really great. Maybe he should get some bigger ones, but his seem to be doing fine. It's not like you can't hear them above anything else.

Re: Chad Smith

Yeah, in their live shows, they always have huge chemistry between them.

Gotta love the solo's between john and flea...

Re: Mike Portnoy

Yeah, sure, but i didn't say that there's anything wrong with having a big kit.

I'm just saying that it shouldn't be boring, playing on a 5 piece.

Re: Chad Smith

They have made heavier songs on previous cd's.

Re: Lars Ulrich

I fully agree, i can't stand that guy either.

I really don't agree with this. I agree that there's a difference between the two...but when you listen to a RHCP song (doesn't matter which one), you just get pulled into the groove by chad, even...

Re: Lars Ulrich

He doesn't have a ride? Strange...

I think Lars is pretty mediocre. He gets the job done, and that's what's most important.

I always get in an argument with a friend of mine, who really loves...

Re: Danny Carey

I just recently started listening to Tool, and now i really like them.

It's cool how Danny can play pretty simple, non-fancy beats (like in Schism) that sound great. I also really like his use of...

Re: Mike Portnoy

For me (and a lot of other drummers), a five piece doesn't get boring , because there are so many possibilities with it. You don't have to have a 20 piece kit to make great music.

But if you look...

Re: Chad Smith

Yeah, i know what you mean...

They don't have the same funkiness in their music as they used to. But in some songs they still do, like Can't Stop, or Purple Stain,...

Re: Chad Smith

Well they have grown up too :)

It's normal that as they get older, they would want to try out a different approach to music. And i really like the Chili's nowadays, they still have great songs.
