Re: Snare Opinions

Hey Drumrunner,

A 12 or a 13 sounds good as an auxiliary snare. It all depends on your own ear, though. Always a good idea to actually hear the snare you buy instead of buying it unheard. Take...

Re: Montuno Groove

Hey Stoptime,

Montuno....great stuff to play. This is the best part of a salsa tune, in my opinion. Everyone is focused on the melody/chorus call and response. The bonga bell=1+3, cascara beat...

Re: Snare Drum Choices

A snare drum is the most important drum you can buy. E-Bay is ok for some purchases, but maybe you should look into a local drum shop for a snare. Kind of like never buying a cymbal from a...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Hey Crew,

Great topic! Who else to talk about than the Groove Monster himself! In June 2006 I saw Toto just as they were taking off on their latest world tour. Got to talk with Greg P.(keys)...

Re: Mapex M-Birch Jazz Kit Questions...Need Help

In other words, do thin birch shells offer good low end, especially a 20x18? M-Birch has a 6-ply shell with no hoop. Take it easy.

Re: Buying Drums - recommendations?

Check out Pacific's Finishply line, or the less expensive X-7 kit(seven piece). Mapex has some great new finishes in their Pro-M(maple) group, as well as M-Birch. Good luck!
