Re: Camco Oaklawn 12 14 18 with snare

It's also nice to know that you can get parts (Lugs, rods, hoops, FT Legs) from Ron if you need it.

Re: Got drum gear invention/improvement ideas?

Given three mics and a mature 3D beamforming library, I'm pretty sure I could make the EAD10's DSP look like a child's toy.

Unfortunately, it would likely take a solid year of moderately difficult...

Re: Evoking Emotions through Drums

Possibly of interest of you would be Blake Fleming (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzV6MRQWdOE)'s stuff.

If you're going to get strange and artsy, you might as well take the leap and turn it up...

Re: New kit! A&F Single Tension Brass

When you're queuing up for the Tour de France, and see a guy roll up on a Penny-Farthing, it is not necessary to explain to the rider that he won't win the race and that his bike is impractical.... ...

That's a really neat kit.

Re: Next Stage Custom?

Alternatively, a lot of buyers get caught up in trying to find "the last instrument I will ever buy" rather than "the next kit I will own". They don't realize that "the last kit" typically happens...

Cutting down the hat rod

The more I move around the kit, the more I seem to catch a stick on the excess rod above my hat. I'm thinking of pruning it. I figure I should attach a cowbell or other accessory and make the cut...

Re: Next Stage Custom?

I'm standing in front of a SC right now and the BD hoop is finished with the same stain and poly coat as the kit.

Are you talking about the inside circumference of the hoop or something? In a...

Re: Get better Andy!

Too soon for jokes?

Cause if Andy had spent more time on Moeller, he would have had a double stroke!

Best wishes and lots of love.

Re: Crazy Ass Deals. Legit?

They are blocked by Websense as a scam site.

I recommend removing or obfuscating the link so that nobody accidentally clicks on it.

Re: Next Stage Custom?

While I don't want to address the OP's list of improvements directly.......

I need the SC to deliver a durable, well made drum set with Yamaha hardware at the ~$500 price range, so that when...

Re: Need some help choosing a snare.

Work on narrowing down your choices. You're going to have to put in some listening time on Youtube of various expositions.

Wood or metal?
Heavy/thick or light?
Modern or vintage/nouveau?

Re: What to do when audience starts crying?

All day long, I've had The Corrs "Breathless" stuck in my head....

Thank you for fixing that.

Re: What to do when audience starts crying?

I get that, and am appropriately and sincerely humbled.. But outside of that...

How do you cope with it and keep playing the song? PLAN A was to look at a different audience member... But the...

Re: What to do when audience starts crying?

Indeed, though my ego would like to think it was a bit of both.

Re: What to do when audience starts crying?

Was playing "Strangers" by the Kinks, and despite the simple drum part, is surprisingly hard to sing and drum simultaneously.

What to do when audience starts crying?

Played an impromptu gig last night for some friends in an old-timey pub. Mostly drums but played a couple where I was acoustic-guitar/Vox.

About halfway through a moderately emotional song when I...

Re: Beginner - easy songs are freaking hard!

Sorry to resurrect...

Had to play "Strangers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIpOR3FP8cg)" by the Kinks last night.

I was teetering on the edge of lacking the discipline to play the...

Re: Inde vs C&C

No argument when it comes to durability.

The tonal difference only affects extremely low-mass kits (iNDE, Guru, GWay), and even then, it's something that only a recording studio will pick up, or...

Re: Bandmate wants us to pay rent to practice at his home studio. Thoughts?

Indeed. I have gents to my basement every Friday to play. The "rent" is that they need to occasionally bring a six'er to restock the beer fridge.

When they stop buying beer, I start stocking it...

Re: Are you amused or offended when someone standing near you mimes your playing?

Indeed it is. It's all a show. "20 Feet From Stardom" explains it all pretty well.

Re: Inde vs C&C

I considered both, and went with George Way (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-3lQFvtWmo), and had iNDE as a fallback in case the GW didn't work out. The C&C's reminded me of our old 60's era...

I've always wanted to post a "Show us your mean face" thread so we can compare our pouts and exchange tips for perfecting this underappreciated art form. Possibly discuss the dichotomy of a mean...

When we had a TV (97' ish?) gig, I called my Marshall rep to try to score some free loot. The result?

Re: Drum Gear for an 8/9 year old

Children tend to lose and break hearing protection. My kids have gone through two of the $20 over-ear protectors, and only my HomeDepot lawn-and-garden ones have survived.

Grab a fish-bowl full...
