Re: Announcement - Competition finalists.

I've been anxiously awaiting this post all week! While I'm bummed I missed out on the final drawing, I definitely think every finalists deserves their spot. This has been a fun competition that has...

Re: Is it unethical to buy drums made in China?

I feel like I should chime in here. I lived in China for a short while in 2005 and got to see a lot of the country.

China is a really complicated place. Pollution is a big problem but I don't...

Re: Metronome + Backing tracks - Please help

When you choose your software platform you need to make sure it allows you pan or bus the click to its own line out. Your interface looks like it has 8 1/4" outs. So you would need to map the click...

Re: My live backing track/click setup

I'll be really interested to see how it works for you. I have been considering a nearly identical setup, though I have heard that you can run into a little latency when triggering midi sounds out of...

Re: 20" HHX studio ride at MF - 179.00

That's a really tempting deal. Does anybody here have experience with this ride who could describe its sound or compare it to other cymbals? Reviews and sound files are conspicuously absent out on...

Re: 16" bass drum... Hints/Suggestions?

"L" arm with a cowbell on it? Or tambourine? Or any piece of percussion with an eye bolt mount?

Nice work on the little kick. More pics of the Rockers?

Dom Famularo has a book of exercises for this.

Here is an existing DW thread concerning the book itself...

Re: 16" bass drum... Hints/Suggestions?

My 16" Sonor 3007 floor tom does double-duty as a mini-kick for small stage / low volume applications. For spurs I am able to just pull the spurs off my kick and put them through the tom's leg...

Re: From the other side - how to prepare your kit (& yourself) for PA.

KIS, thanks for a great thread.

Building off Taye-Dyed, my next gig is also an outdoor one.

What are your thoughts on indoor vs outdoor settings? Are there many differences in how the sound...

Re: Info About Playing Out of the Country (US)

I used to work for a branch of the Department of Commerce that would get involved in this kind of thing from time to time. The office was called an "Export Assistance Center" and I worked at the...

Re: Assistance in id'ing a Pearl Marching Snare

My high school got a new set of marching snares exactly like that one around 1999 or 2000 (except ours were black, not red). Not sure how long that generation of marching snares had been out when we...

Re: Sonor Force 3007 14" Floor Tom Blue Fade

Have you checked Dale's Drum Shop? As I understand it they bought all the remaining 3007 stock from Sonor when that series was discontinued and have the largest 3007 shell bank of anyone. If any...

Re: What can you not play with 12/14/20; or, should I sell these?

Great job on the MIJ kit and those Pearls look great. I'm curious - I see you have die cast hoops on your Pork Pie snare. Can you comment on how the die casts changed the sound of the snare? I...

Made myself a bass drum riser for my floor tom

When I got my new 3007s recently I was excited to discover that the kick spurs are the same diameter as the floor tom legs, meaning that it would be that much easier to make a small kick out of my...

Re: Help: Bass Drum Tuning

I have that same size bass drum. I've got an EMAD batter and the stock, unported Remo UT reso, which is akin to an Ambassador but it has a muffle ring around the perimeter.

Both heads are tuned...

Re: Discovered something quite surprising about an 8" tom

Yikes. You play 3007s right? Is the 8" the only one with that issue? Like others I'm hoping it's just that the head is stretched out. Glad it sounds good despite the clearance issue.

Re: Still thinking about that Sweet Cymbal Pack...

I've been on a similar track myself. I've been a lot more intrigued by the Byzance line than anything the "big 3" (Zildjian / Sabian / Paiste) have been producing recently, with the possible...

Re: Christmas in September... new 3007s

What kind of heads and tuning do you use?

My 12" sounds fine, considering that it's still got the stock heads on it. I've got both rack toms tuned such that if you mute one head and finger-tap a...

Re: Christmas in September... new 3007s

No new pedal, though I am past due for one. Still rocking an old DW 7000 double pedal with a broken slave spring and rusty bottom plate...

Gruntersdad, I've seen your Gretsch in other threads and...
