Re: Adding click when practicing to CDs

If it's quantized, just drag it into Garageband and make a click track.

If it's not, grab a cowbell and a shirt that's slightly too small for you and make one. If that fails, iterate through...

Re: Being offered a position you don't really want, but could be an experience?

Sometimes slow is awesome (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1XJNBvIpWY).

Man I love the way he plays.

Give this gent's video a shot.

Re: No more jam sessions for me. I'm done

Cold jams are an interesting thing. It always feels like you're being asked to improvise a sympathetic part to music that is typically out of your norm. It often puts musicians into an odd position...

Re: Bill's site

Just wanted to post a little update.

I'm a few weeks in and have been focusing on the Extreme Hands Makeover. The first week was a major leap for me. Specifically, my weak hand began to match,...

Re: The sound guy

When I visited my brother's club, I saw that he had set up SDC overheads above the drums. Being a small room, I couldn't imagine that they were necessary. The cymbal bleed through the vocal mics...

Re: College kid getting into drums - first steps?

Hardware: Pedal/Throne. Hat stand, snare stand, and 2 booms.
Cymbals: Hats, Crash, Ride.

I don't know what to recommend for hardware. So much of it is crap, and so much of it is overpriced. ...

Re: College kid getting into drums - first steps?

Good kit. Good price. Comes with a usable snare. Unoffensive/Neutral color (easy resale). Looks like a 2014?

You're going to have to budget for hardware and cymbals.

Re: Cadeson Twist Series Drum Set

If that is indeed the case, I'd list at $600 and give the buyer a little wiggle room. See if you can recoup your investment + a case of pilsner.

Re: College kid getting into drums - first steps?

Therein lies the dilemma.

When I started, I grabbed a Ludwig Accent and B8's on craigslist. 3 months and one lesson later, I was shopping for a real kit. I gave my Ludwig to my neighbor to bang...

Re: Advice on Vintage Ludwig Player's kit

The objective of both buying and selling (anything) is to get the most for the least. As long as none is deceived, there's no foul.

That said, I've bought instruments from crackheads that were...

Re: Injury stories while drumming

Guitar: Suffered a 70% Spontaneous Pneumo Thorax (collapsed lung) the day before a gig. Played the gig sitting down with a tube pushed into my lung cavity and taped onto my chest. Was prescribed...

Re: The order of things....

The only B8 cymbal I found to be remotely satisfactory was the 22" ride. It was pingy, and had a bell and a bow that were not offensive.

I did not care for the 14" hats. While they were...

Re: Advice on Vintage Ludwig Player's kit

I'm going to end up passing. I have this odd compulsion that makes me want to bring the kits I own back into 'good' condition. If I were to buy it, the compulsion would eventually kick in and I'd...

Re: 8 years of professional teaching - time to give it away

As a lefty that plays righty (guitar, drum, keyboard), I really have not experienced any issues playing a righty kit.

That said, If I had begun on a left handed kit, I'd change the config myself...

Re: '51 Slingerland Resto-mod

Great job. It's always nice to see vintage instruments given a second lease on life.

Do you have any 'before' pics?

Re: New Snare ??

The only reason I would recommend against the Sensitone is that there appear to be two versions of it. One is a supra-clone that sounds really nice. One is an APAC made piece of trash that sounds...

Does anyone know if Futureman's drumitar (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlO1P_h4y3g&t=118) came in a left handed variety?

Re: paradiddle time subdivision question

Advice on Vintage Ludwig Player's kit

I'm looking at http://albany.craigslist.org/msg/4901332396.html and thinking of putting in an offer.

I can't tell if it's a Super Classic, Downbeat, or something entirely different. I took a look...

Re: What experience do you have making your own drum kits?

I investigated doing so with Keller shells. I have a great deal of experience applying nitrocellulose to guitars, and was going to stain/finish. I made up a full BOM and labor spreadsheet. I'll...
