Re: Tension Rod Sizes?

This is similar to another thread started a few months ago. In that thread I posted a formula for determining the size. However, some other users just gave the direct sizes.
The other thread was...

Re: I got some Fiberskyn heads for free.. the heck do I use them for?

The Fiberskyns have a great look. However, they are very fragile. if you use them as batters they will not last long. I had them on my Gretsch kit and soon found out that the contact paper coating...

Re: Rogers Dynasonic Custom Built Snare 10 Lugs

I own two dynasonics, a 5" and a 6.5" both chrome over brass. These are great snare drums. The frame allows the tension on the wires of the snare to be adjusted differently from the tension of the...

Re: Technical question......Song endings

I and some others, used to call that type of ending a "Grand Funk Railroad" ending. That band always seemed to just play those types of long endings.

Re: Drumming Addiction and Withdrawals

My first instrument is drums, and then in the army I taught myself the saxophone. However, both instruments are loud and louder. I could not play those instruments while living in an apartment. It...

Re: Drumming Addiction and Withdrawals

Jim,

Thanks for telling your story. I stopped playing also for a while and am back into it now. I did a mechanical engineering degree after the army.

Re: am I the last one to know about this technique for playing lower volume on cymbals?

Bo, I put Friends on my Amazon list for CDís to purchase. This month I purchased four already and have to hold off a bit, otherwise my CD shelf will collapse.

I listen to Joe Morello, I...

Re: am I the last one to know about this technique for playing lower volume on cymbals?

I will play a conga with a few extra pieces, but I refuse to use the cajon. I really do not have a logical explanation for it. I just dislike them. Using a mac/ apple device I have a logical...

Re: am I the last one to know about this technique for playing lower volume on cymbals?

Bo, sometimes I am playing with an acoustic guitar player who is singing without any amplification. I probably do not have the control you have at these volumes, but I am working at it. It is...

Re: Free Floating Drums (e.g: Sleishman)?

I just did a brief calculation, and I hope I understand the problem correctly. This is how I understand the problem. A hanging tom is hung from the lug rods either Normal to the Earth, or at a 45...

Re: Joe Morello

I am enjoying Joe Morello a lot more lately. Not only because he is one of the greats, but it is very easy to listen to Joe Morello, because his playing style is easy to hear on the recordings, he...

Re: Tension Rod Sizes?

You can purchase a caliper. On the back side of the lug, you can see how long the thread will engage. Measure the threaded area using the caliper and let us call this A. There should be a gap...

Re: Double Pedal

I assume that HH stands for Hi-hat. Playing the double bass with your hi-hat foot, let us call it left foot, is different from playing the hi-hat with the left foot. The hi-hat is usually played...

Re: Ringo Starr... Good or bad?

I gave you the opportunity to explain your position. I never said Ringo did not play on the recordings, your misdirecting my statements purposely. I said he was not he only drummer on the...

Re: Slingerland Rolling Bomber for sale ebay

Great information Bob. You reminded me that those drums were built in the days before Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining, Computer Aided Design (CAD), and Coordinate Measuring Machines...

Re: Slingerland Rolling Bomber for sale ebay

Bob, what improvements did you have to make on those old kits? What did you notice about the old kits that were errors in design or perhaps just things that did not hold up with time?

tamadrum,

We are having a discussion, not a war, I see no reason for you to attack me personally by asking if I am smoking rubber bands. Tama, you have to understand that you did not provide any...

Re: Ringo Starr... Good or bad?

Well where do we begin? Tamadrm, did not provide links or videos to prove his point, so I took his advice and quickly did a search on the internet for Ringo's Travling Allstars...

Re: Which wrap for my new Ludwig Classic Maple?

I remember an Abbott and Costello skit:
Costello: When I get married, I'm going to marry an ugly girl

Abbott: Why?

Costello: If I marry a pretty girl, she might leave me

Abbott: But an ugly...

Re: Slingerland Rolling Bomber for sale ebay

That would seem to go against your name. Since, less weight on the shell is desired, you want to go more weight, Therefore, that would be "more is less?"

Re: Slingerland Rolling Bomber for sale ebay

In my opinion they show the price that high as an advertisement, either for their drum shop, or they will lower the price after a few days.

I really like the design though. I placed a few more...

Slingerland Rolling Bomber for sale ebay

I came across this WW2 Slingerland set on ebay. It looks like a great piece of history.

It is nice to see how they put the set together using wood instead of steel, aluminum or any other metal in...

Re: "Alive" (live in the studio)

The CD and I found each other at the mail box finally. Because I travel a lot I do not get my mail regularly. I am listening to this CD now, and enjoying it a heck of a lot.
