Re: Ludwig Classic Maple & Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Review

Congrats on the new tubs and nice review.
The Yamaha Vintage finish really darkens over time. You kit is gorgeous.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

This is my second Ming fiberglass snare.
6x14 with black chrome hardware. Super thin shell with rings. Very sensitive, crisp with a nice pop. Loud like my carbon fiber snare but it does low volume...

Re: Ludwig purchasing rant.

Cascio Interstate Music for the heads.
They have a free shipping deal going on today.
Drums on Sale or Lawton Drum Company for the other stuff.

The new ones are a different animal... made by dunnett.
Not the real thing.

Re: Hoop alternatives for Yamaha Club Custom (kapur)

Love my Black Wood CC's!
You will love the snare.
I like the sound of the stock 1.6 hoops, they work well with the rounded edges and Kapur shells. I tried a die-cast on the snare and went back to...

Re: The Supra returns ;)

I have five Supra's, 5 and 6.5 COB, 5 and 6.5 Ludalloy and a smooth 6.5 Bronze in my collection of fifty plus snares. The Supra's get the most time in the stand. Just something about the sound...

Re: New Gretsch 3 ply Broadkaster line

The original three plies did not have rings. No silver sealer like the new ones, either.
With a satin finish, they are close to Customs, perhaps a bit less. The wraps with vintage hardware are more...

Re: DW Collectors Snare Suggestions?

You can go 10 plies with rings, 6 plies with rings or no rings with 10 or 6 plies. VLT shells are nice, too.
You should email DW with your specs. They can build the drum you are looking for.

Re: Musicians Say streaming Music will Leave them Broke.

Very few of those among today's "Stars"...
They are more actors/dancers than musicians.

Re: Yamaha Drums

That drum looks great! Nice job.
I have one of SoCalMike's plates on my Club Customs and love it.

Re: RANT: Dissapointed in Sonor

If you had that problem with a Ludwig or DW kit, people would scream.
Sonor's response is the classic corporate, "Sorry to hear about that, go pound sand".
Maybe they use engineered rubber like the...

Re: Opinions on what to do with these old ludwig Classic Maples?

I dig 'em!
Give Jack Lawton a call and see what he wants for a matching bd. He gets raw shells from Ludwig and does excellent work.

Re: Ludwig Millenium Brass Snare- NSD

You didn't buy it, you stole it!
$200 is a spectacular deal for that drum. I had the exact same model, it's a great drum. Too bad the case is missing.

Re: Yamaha Drums

For the price they charge, it's shocking. Makes them seem like mid-line, off-the-shelf drums.

Re: Acrylic Drums?

I use Remo Black Dots, just like John Henry. I have the Jeff Ocheltree DVD where he re-heads and tunes a Bonham Vistalite kit and he uses two strips of thick felt for the bd.

Re: Acrylic Drums?

Yeah, I get crap about the pillow all the time. I love the sound I get with it. When I add T-rods and the new Ludwig cast claws I will address it.

Re: Acrylic Drums?

I have a Vistalite set that I love but it has only left the house once. Heavy drums as well. They do sound great, though.
