Re: Why do we assume that handmade is better?

10/10 reply.

Re: Proof other musicians don't care how drums sound.

I didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if this has been said, but I didn't buy my Classic Maples for "other musicians". I bought them because I like how they sound, how they feel, and how...

Re: am i the only one who doesn't like pearl?

I've never been a fan of Pearl and Yamaha. Not sure exactly why, which is kind of crazy...But nope. Don't like either.

Re: Rudiments: The Big Three

I come from a corps style rudimental snare drumming background, so I'm well versed in all PAS as well as a long list of hybrids. But when it comes to my set playing, the "big three" as well as a few...

Re: It's Official - Vinnie no longer with Ludwig

I don't know man, he's got a pretty sweet gig over at Ludwig. I can't think of any reason I'd want to leave if I had it.

Re: I got my Birthday gift early!

Yeah I read all the horror stories before putting in my order. It sounded like they had quality problems a while back and have since put more money/effort into that area. At least the drums...

I got my Birthday gift early!

Just one month from putting my order in, my Classic Maples showed up at my drum shop ready to be picked up just in time to call it an early birthday gift. [My birthday is Saturday, I picked these up...

Re: Ludwig Elite bracket/Vibra Band mount question

I'm bumping this because I also have NO IDEA how to put this together. The Vibraband came packaged with a whole bunch of unassembled parts and absolutely no instructions on how it is put together....

Re: Customer Service

I haven't had anything wrong with any actual drum purchases so I've never really had to go to customer service. The only time I did was when I contacted Pearl about a small plastic bushing on the...

Re: Has tradition been holding drummers back for 100+ years?

Thank you! You've just said almost everything I was feeling throughout reading the thread and now I don't have to figure out how to put it into words without sounding like an ass.

One thing...

Re: I'd Hit That podcast

I listen to an episode almost every day at work. Been wondering this as well - he sounds like Johnny Knoxville.

Re: Good day/bad day check-in

I finally got my kit home from my guitar players house after six months. During that time I only got to play MAYBE once a week. (It would have been more, but he lives 10 miles out into the...

Re: Going to see Galactic tonight!

Oh hell yeah, man. Galactic kills it. Saw them these last two consecutive years here in Portland. They'll be back in Feb. and I'll be there. Stanton Moore is one of the funkiest drummers.

Re: Where Do You Fit? - Poll

Unfortunately, I've never had any luck getting in any bands motivated enough to get to the point of gigging and getting paid. Ever. I think it's the city I live it. Musically, it seems pretty dead. ...

Re: New Kit Size HELP!

I'm all about versatility, so I would go with the "smaller" sizes...which are more standard than they are small, IMO.

Re: Beginning drums

This isn't going to be as fun as laying down a fat backbeat, but my advice would be to get a pad and metronome and learn your rudiments. Because the bigger your vocabulary is, the more words you can...

Re: Good day/bad day check-in

Most days are in between since my drums are at my guitarist's place and we only get to play once a week as it's a bit of a drive. But I ordered a new set of CMs last night, so It's been a good day...

Re: Musical artists whose death saddened you.

I can think of several artists whose deaths bum me out, but I can't say that I was alive for or old enough to remember them. (1990) I can't say that any of the recent celebrity deaths have made me...

Re: Why does my playing FEEL different during a gig?...

I'd say it's some adrenaline, but more your approach to the gig. When I did my drum corps and indoor drumline stuff, the thing our instructors would always tell before we took the floor for our...
