Re: Todd Sucherman here!

Look up Drumster, Todd has a website, go figure.......

Todd, the snare gallery is amazing, I am also a custom builder and know how much time it takes to clean, photograph and post a large...

Re: Cutting down marching drums

Another solution is to cut 3 inches or so out from the middle, then glue and clamp the the two halves together. This will save the re-rings on both ends, bearing edges and if small one piece lugs...

Re: Cutting down marching drums

Or you could sell the 3 drums and use the money to buy the snare you want. Re-think your math on the getting 2 snares out of a 10. By the time you find the right spot to cut that does not intersect...

Re: Double Stroke Control and Fulcrum

I think we all need to ask the most universal profound question, What would Lars do?

Re: 6 Pc. kit and 9 cymbals on 2 tripods!

That is a cool concept, I was expected to see a couple big Manifrodo tripods. now, built a stage cutout to the shape of the kit footprint, and elevate it a couple feet. Should look like a floating...

Re: Shannon Forrest playing with TOTO!

I saw them with Simon Phillips, two years or maybe a little more ago? Did not know he was gone. Love jamming along to Toto tunes, Africa is probably my favourite, what a great flowing groove.

Re: I don't wanna play exercises like 'exercises'.....

I have been guilty of not taking exercises to the next level. Many times I have learned the mechanics of an exercise and can play it through adequately. To really make it become a part of your...

Re: Double stroke roll lesson for Modern Drummer

Isn't it crazy how much we obsess over stuff like this, and the people scream to hear "Takin' Care Of Business" one more time.

Re: Double stroke roll lesson for Modern Drummer

It is also possible you are confusing Chad Wackerman's buzz roll with his double stroke. In clinic he informed that he was taught very strictly that a buzz is to be done with 3 strokes per hand,...

Re: Double stroke roll lesson for Modern Drummer

Yes Grol, he is tense and if you listened to him speak he addressed that and explained his necessity for some tension. Chad W is also a great mentor to learn from, he attributes his technique to the...

Re: Your Holy Grail

ME TOO!!!
There is a N&C/Zildjian on auction site now, the hardware looks like it just came out of a fire pit, just hacked and it is still climbing over the $800 mark. Was Kris Kristofferson's...

Re: My humble take on good drummers and OK drummers

People who slam guys with chops usually don't have any and ride off the fantasy they are "groove " players.
There, did I make anyone angry?

Re: I'm getting into this now

I am 50 now, I doubt I will find a bunch of young punters who will want me in their band, but I have been working hard on my double bass chops for a couple years now. If anything, it is a great...

Re: Vinnie Colaiuta

Yes, that image is bizarre, maybe one for the Brain Games people. Sting appears to be closer to the camera than the two back up guys, but seems to have been zapped by the miniaturizing gamma ray gun....

Re: Bill Bruford - Beelzebub (play along included, have fun!!)

Nice playing, very cool. So this whole session was done with everyone in separate locations, is that what is known as Skype? Yes I am an old guy, how did you guess?

Re: Do You Like Metal Snares?

35 pound snare. So do you research your gigs beforehand, are there stairs, do they have an elevator, is there a zoom boom or mobile crane on site to help load?

Re: Snare drum exposed to high temperature - PLEASE HELP!

Re: Building a drum shell

Unless you are ready to lay down some serious cash for tools, you should look at building stave shells. With this, you will need a good table saw, a digital magnetic pitch gauge to mount on the saw...

Re: Advice on becoming a teacher

Not saying getting a degree is not a good thing, my point is things are still attainable without. My father taught Auto mechanics at a high school for 22 years. He was hired straight out of a garage....
