Re: Some indie shops not trying hard enough?

When I lived in CO - I would drive two hours to go to Rupp's Drums fairly regularly. I really miss that shop (I moved to FL).

They always had my Oak 727s and you could usually find something cool...

That is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. I must have one.

Dumbest Bandmember Live Moment

To go along nicely with the Most Embarassing moment thread, we all have stories of bandmates doing ridiculous things on stage. What's your personal experience the silliest or most "lacking common...

Re: Gorilla snot

I've actually had to do just that. We were playing a daytime show on the mountain in Beaver Creek (Red Tail Camp for those of you familiar with BC) and our guitar player/singer was going full...

Re: Ludwig Centennial Drumkits

Now that I have a well established (and paid for!) practice space, I'm thinking of picking one of these up as a gig kit, so I don't have to ever tear down (and abuse at the bar) my Starclassic Maple...

Re: Midwest Percussion Mapex Blowout!

Shane, can you mix and match pieces on these blowout kits or do you have to buy the packages?

Re: Awakening!

As to not being able to hear anything behind the kit:

Are the rest of the guys plugging directly into personal amps or are they going direct input to a PA or mic'ing their amps?

When my band...

Re: Drummers breaking their stuff, on purpose

My guess is that he was actaully pissed off to be playing in park, for about 10 craft shoppers and therefore took out the rage on his kit. I've played at the local farmers market and that kind of gig...

Craviotto Unlimited

So, I'm looking for a 6.5x14 snare to add to the arsenal. I have two 5.5x14s now - a Gretsch New Classic and a Tama Starclassic G Brass (nickel coated). Both are great drums, but I played the...

Re: my ringing Black Panther

I have a Gretsch New Classic 5.5x14 and use 1/2 a Moongel - that's it. When I first got it, I had an O-ring (that came with a Tama snare) and a full Moongel. The more I play it and hear it from the...

Re: I need a LOUD snare HeLp!!!

I have a Tama Starclassic G brass (nickel coated) that is insanely loud - and heavy. In fact, I got a maple snare recently because it was too loud in the mix if the rest of the kit was not mic'd up. ...

Re: before i order this DW kit...

If it's your dream kit - get the olive and scale down the size of the kit. They'll make another tom to match your setup when you have the dough.

Re: Tama Starclassic Maple the New Gretsch?

I've now been waiting 2 months for my SC Maples (24x17, 12x8, 16x14) and have another 2 - 4 to go. Lead times on the SC Maples are running 4 - 6 months! I could have a custom kit from just about...

Re: Gretsch New Classics -- New Finishes?

In the USA Customs I'm sure they'd do a custom color - or at least they have a huge selection to choose from. I think part of the strategy to keep the cost down on the New Classics is to offer...

Re: Tell me about modern Ludwig.

You're going through exactly what I did 2 months ago. I had about a $2000 budget as well and looked at, and played, anything and everything I could get my hands on. I had very specific size "wants"...

Re: Do Tama Starclassic Toms come with starcast mounts when purchased individually ?

I believe they do. I ordered a new StarClassic Maple kit in custom sizes about 6 weeks ago. After placing the order and putting my deposit money down, I realized I didn't know the answer to the very...

Re: New or Old Tama kits

You missed my point entirely. I do not think you should use other pro drummers to dictate what kit you should play. My post even had the following caveat:

My point was that all of these highly...

Re: New or Old Tama kits

I did a ton of research before buying my new kit. I looked at and played Pearl Reference, DW, Gretsch, GMS, Yamaha Absolutes, etc, etc. What I found in the end is that I loved the sound of the Tama...

Re: New Pacific Series

Look close at the X7 on the site. It appears that the "professional" STM tom mounts cover 4 lugs of the drum. Looks terrible.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating taking the offending party's hand. My comment was more a knee-jerk reaction to someone's livelyhood being severly impaired through the carelessness of another....

Re: Drummer's career ended by someone's stupidity...

I hate to say it, but this sounds like a pretty typical Internet hoax.

If the story is true then it is vile and unforgiveable - makes you miss the old "eye for an eye" (Hammurabi's Code) version...

Re: "professional drumbeat"?

Consider Guns 'N Roses "Paradise City" intro beat. As simple as it gets and yet they recorded it and made a hit out of it.

BTW, I'm not knocking GnR - just a great example of a very simple beat...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! DW VS Tama starclassic Maple

Just as an aside - Tama offers reinformcenet rings too - they add a little $$ to each drum purchased. I believe they call theirs "Sound Focus Rings"

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! DW VS Tama starclassic Maple

I did a ton of research before ordering my new kit. I just bought a Tama StarClassic Maple. 24x17 bass; 12x8 rack and 16x14 floor.

Tama actually just redesigned the StarCast mounting system and...
