Re: once again.....

One thing I learned, just because the stage is large, it is generally a better idea to set up tight as a band. This was learned by doing it wrong many times. Guys tend to make use of a big stage and...

Re: Vinyl Wrappng

I did this kit in 3M vehicle wrap. You can get any photo laid onto the wrap which gives endless possibilities. Mine uses 3 separate photos of ice caves.

Re: A question for Dave Weckl..

I had that night in my phone as a reminder and I still missed it. Haven't seen Weckl since he did Toronto back in the late 90's.

Re: Anyone know how much touring drummers get paid?

ok , I will play. Only from personal experience. I haven't gigged in a year cause the market sucks so bad, but 2004 to 2012 was pretty consistent. $250-275 for a one nighter, usually a special event...

Re: Anyone know how much touring drummers get paid?

Made more and played more in the 80's and 90's than I find is possible nowadays.

I used to play steady live 6-7 days a week.
With the anti smoking and drinking restrictions, the business just...

Re: wire:Scorpions drummer jailed in Dubai

Herman Zee German Rarebell is not with Scorpions anymore I seem to recall reading that somewhere. 15-20 years ago I did some gigs with a Scorpions tribute band. It was the most boring playing I had...

Re: A kit to call my own, without starting a drum company

Great job making your old kit new again. I re-sprayed the clear on my Signia's not long ago, but have not done any photo's. While building a kit from scratch is a huge time consuming ordeal, I still...

Re: Heuer Drums

I knew well before Vinnie was looking for a custom builder, I even had the opportunity to apply. I am kind of disappointed to learn Chris works or worked for Keller, and is simply a good...

Re: Musicians who don't listen to music.

Reading all the comments caused me to think hard on this. I have gone through so many phases, from headphone lights out listening, to talk radio to catch a break when I was playing and practicing 7...

Re: Drum stacking...

Will not "hurt" the heads whatsoever. Often I will kneel on a new head after I snug it on to the drum to help seat the head, sort of a pre-stretch. This does help to eliminate a lot of tweaking after...

Perfection. Love the whole combination, from the beaver tails to the single flange hoops.

Re: Craviotto 6.5x14 solid (Found at Pawn Shop)

It could be cherry. I would actually guess Cherry ahead of maple. Has a little smoother velvety texture, close to maple but a little softer wood.

Re: Craviotto 6.5x14 solid (Found at Pawn Shop)

That is your best score so far of all the snares you have acquired. The grain does not look like mahogany, looks more like maple with a stain, although odd they matched the interior, but seeing as it...

Re: wire:Scorpions drummer jailed in Dubai

Our old keyboard player went there with his old band Yukon. You need to be pretty stupid to act up in any foreign country, especially one this foreign to us. He always said it was one of the coolest...

Re: Types of Wood for Types of Sound

As well as "what snare should I buy?" Yet these threads carry on for pages.

One very helpful resource to understand woods is to search and study the Janka hardness scale. Seeing the hardness of...

Re: Derek Roddy here!

I was turned on to this alternating hands/feet topic by my friend Vito Rezza. I sort of became obsessed with it, partly it is a really cool thing you can work on when your concentration level is a...

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

It is incredible this thread has carried on almost seamlessly for 3 years. I have played in tribute bands my whole life. Really the only difference between this and a regular bar band cover act,...

Re: Injured my back - can't play - what's my stuff worth?

I would sell the Constantinople K's separately, they are fetching a good buck on the collectors circuit.

Re: Snare Drum need Identifying

Can't help pinpoint it, but I can give you an approximate. Looks like a standard chrome over steel from mid 1980's. Would have been a basic snare supplied with a full kit.

Re: Jenkins-Martin (Blaemire) announces "Starry Night" Limited Edition.

I am in Canada, here it is spelled "fibre" so "fibreglass". We also have a "U" in colour.

Re: Jenkins-Martin (Blaemire) announces "Starry Night" Limited Edition.

OK, it is growing on me, would look great on a soft lighted stage.

On another topic, I checked out the video of The Gunn guy demoing your snare. Nice, that dude has one of the smoothest double...
