Re: Not denting heads

I play fairly heavy and use 2S sticks. I use 2 ply heads or single ply with dots and have never dented my heads. I play mostly rimshots on the snare. My strike is pretty consistent. I will dish out...

Re: The matching snare

I've never had a matching snare. I've thought about ordering a Red Sparkle but I would probably never use it.

Re: Spaun snare drums

I do not care for the sound of vented snares. I have a friend who has one. He might as well be hitting a phone book.

Re: Tuning "experts" mini rant

Please do. I am happy enough with my tuning abilities but your drums always sound great. I enjoy seeing how other people do things. :)

Re: Led's Latest Page

It's strange that Plant's current solo set is mostly Zeppelin tunes.

Re: How do you stabilize a virgin bass drum that jumps up and down?

Hmmmm I have a 14x26 and a 16x26 and never had an issue. My roommates 16x26 with curved spurs sits like a rock.

I keep my front hoop raised about an inch off the floor. Perhaps yours is too flat...

Re: Ludwig P-85 rant

Yep he told me about them too. I recently sold my LM402. I think I am going to replace it with an Acrolite Classic.

Re: Ludwig P-85 rant

I guess we should count our blessings. They updated the butt plates but the new placement won't allow for high tensions on the reso. One step forward. One step back.

Re: Ludwig P-85 rant

I seriously crank my snare resos. That means I end up changing them more than anyone I know. I have stripped the screw heads on EVERY P-85 I have ever owned. That is my biggest gripe.

Re: Ludwig P-85 rant

I use Puresound Custom Pros on my Ludwigs, making it possible to change reso heads without fiddling with the screws on the p-85s.

When I ordered my Red Sparkle kit,3 years ago,Vintage Black Oyster was a limited/exclusive finish for just a few shops. It was tied for my fav with RS. It's limited availability made the decision for...

Re: Weird vintage bass drum hole?

I cut out all the resos out on my first kit, back in 1980. That way I could keep the bottom hoops on. I hated the look of kits without them. I got the idea from Kenny Jones' touring kit with The Who....
