Re: making the best of a loss

All I can say is I am in the same boat and it sucks. Lost my house and band practice space. I like in a shoe with my little Ekit and finally got a band back together and we practice in a garage.

Re: Which pro set gives most bang for the buck?

I would say Pearl Masters MCX. A few years ago I got an MCX with snare in Mappa Burl REAL veneer for 1400. All the MCX sound so nice. Deals can be had all over the place now.
The new sessions kits...

Re: New Pearl Session Studio Classic

Should be very nice drums. Nice they have the industrial grade optimounts and good hardware. I have a 98 sessions kit and they are good quality drums. These should be nice as well. I have not heard...

Re: How much will you compromise when sharing another drummer's kit?

I just use what I am handed and feel glad I dont have to let the others use mine. More often then not it"s a horrific piece of crap with crazy tom angles. But it better then getting there early and...

Re: Sonor Force 2007 vs Yamaha Stage Custom

I have the force 2007 studio 1 kit. Among others. I paid 400 US for it minus the snare. I was very worth it. The only thing I dont like are the stamped bass claws.
Sounds great. Looks fine. Great...

Re: Your thoughts on gear progression starting from beginner level

I did what he is contemplating. I'm just relating my experience. For me the timing was easy but training my old beat up hands is proving to be a challenge. The best thing he could do is go back in...

Re: Your thoughts on gear progression starting from beginner level

I got a roland TD3 kit when I was 53. I could use headphones, not annoy anyone with my awful thrashing, and plug in a music source to play to. I did not work at rudiments enough. It was much easier...

Re: Bobdadrumma

Sounds familiar Bob. I recently divorced, lost my house and jam space, and everything else, on the third band in a year. and live in a shoe. But still working and still playing. New girl too.

Re: Whats really the bang for your buck kit?

No drums will sound good with that tuning. May as well keep the cats. Thats just too loose. The shells will tell you when you have it right.

Re: Pearl Masters

I have the MCX ruby black burst over mappa burl. 10, 12, 16 and 22. The only thing I would change is the the 22 to a 20 if I could. Other then that and even WITH that the kit is perfect. There is no...

Re: Offered a gig, don't know what to do!

I saw an 80's cover band a couple of weeks ago. As a musician, and an old one at that, I was appalled. They had wigs and sparkly clothes and played the worst music made. They screamed and jumped...

Re: Pearl MCX or Mapex Saturn?

I love the tone and projection of my MCX. Great value. Never played saturns but they look real fine and you have to choose what your ears tell you. Both fine kits no question about it, but they...

Re: What brand of kit do you play?

Started with Rolland TD3 then Pearl Sessions then Masters then Alessis then Sonor. They all made sense at the time and still have them all.

Re: Pearl sensitone elite reveiw

My steel sensitone came with my sessions kit in 97. It's not an elite but is identical to a steel elite. There were no elites back then.

Re: Sonor Safari

Hi Pearly
As I posted in the other forum I was wondering what the problem was with the new kit. Seems the problem is it was mis handled. Still think Sonor does a pretty stellar job with these low...
