Re: 2014 STAGE CUSTOM review ☞

Thanks for the review. I've seen them for $649 and you might be able to get them for less shipped. Great deal. My Tama SCP B/B's looked to be packed identical to yours. Not sure why they take...

Re: Affordable decent quality tom mounts for Pearl Optimounted toms

Cool, thanks for the sensible tip. That's what I did just with my 8" hanging tom on my other kits.

Re: Affordable decent quality tom mounts for Pearl Optimounted toms

I'd really prefer that iso style leg mount, but I think to start out with, it will be cheaper to buy the L arms and double clamp stand section. May even need an actual shorter, beefier stand for two...

Re: Affordable decent quality tom mounts for Pearl Optimounted toms

These are the only thing I've found for the floortoms other than using the existing optimount stuff. http://www.drumfactorydirect.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_105_77&products_id=2263

Re: Affordable decent quality tom mounts for Pearl Optimounted toms

That was funny! Those won't do me any good as these drums are hanging by optimounts I do believe.

Re: Affordable decent quality tom mounts for Pearl Optimounted toms

They're right across the street from the GC where I'm picking up the drums. I'll check those out. Thanks.

Re: Need help choosing drum kit/shell pack

I agree with looking some cheap used cymbals until you get familiar with what sounds you actually like and speak for your style as it develops.

Re: Deal of a lifetime or ripped off for being gullable

Nothing wrong with buying a kit and selling it for a profit. These wouldn't be ones to try though. Hopefully you find some you can sell to help fund what you want.

Re: Affordable decent quality tom mounts for Pearl Optimounted toms

No, it's a virgin. I have roadpro stands, so I'll need just a section of a stand with the tom mounts on it I guess. It's looking like you have to get one with the clamp style top then buy the Pearl...

Affordable decent quality tom mounts for Pearl Optimounted toms

I have Tama Roadpro hardware and was wondering what affordable stuff you guys have had great experience with. I'll need mounts for the 10 and 12 as well as the 14 and 16. I'd like to convert to the...

Re: Need help choosing drum kit/shell pack

From what I've heard, you seriously can't go wrong with the new 2014 Yamaha Stage Customs. They made several improvements to these drums which were already great from all the reviews I've read. ...

Re: Looking for a shellpack again..... yay.

The shopping finally ended today and thank the Lord. I feel like I lucked up on a set of Pearl Masters Studios. I almost had myself when I saw the sizes: 8/10/12/14/16/22. One extra drum more than...

Re: Looking for a shellpack again..... yay.

Think I may just go the used route and look for some original Genistas, Gen X's, Starclassic perfomers, etc. I'm just really picky and want really clean stuff and it's hard to find folks who...

Re: Looking for a shellpack again..... yay.

I usually like a 10x8/12x9/14x12 or 14x14 and a 22x18. Maybe if I get out this Saturday I'll play some and listen to the difference. There seems to be a shift to more shallow toms every few years.

Re: Looking for a shellpack again..... yay.

I wish I could travel to MA!! Sounds like two really nice kits for sale. So the Saturn IV's got your ear huh? That's cool to know. What year are your SC's?
I'll check out some of those new...

Looking for a shellpack again..... yay.

Yea, it's time again. I recently bought and returned some Tama SC b/b drums with a wrap due to the wrap joints. IMO, they were not good and I wasn't comfortable with the beveled cut in the shell...

Re: Today's Fattest Sounding Kits?

I would call DW's fat. I also think the Tama SC birch/bubingas have a fat sound. That's the sound I kind of like and how I would describe them. Heads, tuning, and miking have everything to do with...

Re: Finally bought a kit after insane debating....

Yea, I've bought two kits from them. I found a new red mohagony kit for $1150. Just not sure if other toms are available.

Re: Finally bought a kit after insane debating....

The next kit I end up with will be lacquered. I know wraps are more durable, but I'm not a "gigging" drummer and even when I played while on Navy ships in the early 90's, mine had no scratches on...

Re: Finally bought a kit after insane debating....

I never did as I wanted to make sure the drums were right first. IMO, the bearing edges were not right on the the FT either. I won't ever buy a wrapped drum again if the joints look like that. I'm...
