Re: Just an observation

Heh heh, some?

Take a look thru billboards top 100 through the years. There was a LOT of stuff I considered garbage.

Re: App for repeating parts of songs?

Yeah, your iPhone should have Garage Band on it. It's easy enough to learn to create loops.

In the olden days we had to lift the needle off the record and drop it back into place. THAT sucked.

Re: Just an observation

I was 11 in 1963 when The Beatles appeared on the radio here and it was the first time I really connected with music. I listened to music in my early youth but never connected.

Some of the music...

Re: Hi guys. I cant tune

You have a lot of work ahead of you :).

You might search for The Drum Tuning Bible I have seen somewhere or search Drum Tuning in this forum.

The only thing I know is that the tuning of the...

Re: Recording a cover officially - our story so far

Great song!! Great job.

I've always wondered if ASCAP/BMI etc ever went after cover bands or if the just focused on the venues. It would be nice if there was simple blanket liscense available for...

Re: Putting band name on kick drum head, with multiple bands?

They make really thin "plastic" static cling banners that you can simply press on and peel off. No adhesive

Re: What's your favorite cover (maybe limit to 2-3 songs) that your band plays right now?

I like playing the hits also.

We play the 80's genre and I like the Bon Jovi stuff because our vocalist does a great job.

As far as drums, I like playing Panama as long as we get successfully ...

Re: Drummerís Place In Band

So, this was just a venting post :). We all need to do that at times.

You have already accepted the facts and have learned to work around him. It's just one of life's PITA moments in life.

Re: Drummerís Place In Band

That was Larry :)

Back to guitarists and rhythm, I heard Zepplin's Rock and Roll covered last week by a classic rock band. The guitarist played the right chords/notes but the rhythm of his...

Re: How can a drummer be expected to know....

Absolutely. The set up, room and mix are always the first things I listen to/look at.

The mix was kind of typical. I only hear a good mix 1 in 20 times. Not enough definition. Vocals needed to...

Re: How can a drummer be expected to know....

That make sense and is probably the issue. So, if you tune tight, ease up a bit and/or play closer to the rim. I suppose that if you went extremely loose, you could hit the snare about the same as...

How can a drummer be expected to know....

How can a drummer be expected to know how hard/loud to play his drums, ESPECIALLY the snare, when he is sitting behind all the speakers?

This is such a common occurrence and I heard it again last...

Re: Drummerís Place In Band

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with Mr. Aronoff

A lousy band will have weak vocals and a bad mix. The best drummer in the world aint gonna help that :)

He probably meant "lousy"...

Re: Drum sound blending questions

Got it. I guess you just have to file it under, stuff happens.

As far as future recordings, you can try to prepare for everything but it won't guarantee that something in your new system won't...

Re: Drummerís Place In Band

If you ever doubt the value of drums, just listen to a drumless track :)

All the pieces are important but there is a food chain.

Re: Drum sound blending questions

Maybe it would be easier to do a full sound check before recording.

Are you hearing the bad sound in the full mix or just in the isolated drum tracK?

If it's only the isolated track, leave it....

Re: The Speed Limit

There are tremendous physical as well as mental differences in all of us.

People often amaze me in all aspects because I'm just a normal human. :)

Re: Drummerís Place In Band

It's the natural order of things. In a typical band, the vocals are the most important part (and often the weak part of entry level bands)

Next comes the instruments guitar/keys, bass, then...

Re: Need help with memorizing songs and cymbal crashes

^ An honest drummer :)

Drummers have always been able to get away with a lot. Bass players are next in line.

Not saying that there is anything wrong wth it. It's just nice hearing someone else...

Re: Need help with memorizing songs and cymbal crashes

Or, everybody sits down and memorizes the songs they play. And, you are rehearsing them and committing them to memory every time you play them.

They don't always do it before they gig but...

Re: Need help with memorizing songs and cymbal crashes

Everyone who doesn't read has to memorize a great deal in most music. There is no way you can just jump in and go with what you feel every time and do a song justice.

What about when the song...
