Re: Correct sticking for portraits in rythym

If I remember correctly(I studied out of this book in 1976....), right hand lead was the rule but that's about all I remember from studying that book.

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

Might not make you like it any better, but there are two badges so that however you mount the tom there will be a badge visible to the audience. When the audience hears how amazing your drums sound,...

Re: A shame, but long rumoured :(

In reality, every step in the manufacturing process was developed by Yamaha and was used since they started making drums in 1967. It was Sakae that learned everything from Yamaha. The people at the...

Re: I think the time of the drum cover has passed

When the YT drum cover thing started, I didn't have much interest in watching them. I grew up wanting to play in bands and perform in front of people. I've played more gig than I can remember, having...

Re: Turning Kit to Hybrid

If you want to go as quiet as possible using silent stroke heads you can get a Yamaha DTX502 Module(about $279), a DT50K trigger for kick($79.99), DT50S for snare and a couple of toms ($79.99 ea.),...

Re: The Sakae Drum Company...

Just to add a couple of things to your post. I have a deep respect and love for the people at Sakae. I've spent time with the family, broken bread with the people that work on the factory floor. All...

Re: acoustic vs electronic for 10 year old beginner

It's interesting that when talking about guitars, they aren't electric guitars, and "real guitars". Just for thought, on an electronic drum kit you can learn dynamics, time keeping, playing with...

Re: Most recorded drummers - Who gets your nod?

I think my favorite track with JR is Back in the High Life, Steve Winwood. He kills on that whole record. Hal Blaine is in a class all by himself though.

Re: App to measure the angle of snare drum

This reminds me of when I worked retail. We had a customer that brought a triple beam scale in to weigh sticks when he bought them. Took him forever to pick out a couple of pair. He should have put...

Re: low-end beginner acoustic vs Yamaha DTX522k

Here's my two cents. Silent Stroke heads, etc. aren't going to develop your hand technique or ability to play with dynamics, or to pull a variety of sounds out of a given drum. If you're just...

PM me with your contact info and the name of the store you're dealing with. We may have some B or C stock hardware packs that you can get a deal on. BTW, I'm with Yamaha.

Re: Original Zickos Demo Set

I was in a band with John McGraw in the 70's, his dad helped finance the company in the beginning. We used to rehearse in the Zickos factory at night. Those were cool drums for sure.

That's not entirely accurate, but close. There was one particular instance when a guy ordered Maple Custom shells with recording Custom lugs(this was before I worked here). He was advised that it was...
