Thankfully not. I was able to get my current one low enough that it doesn't bug me. The top head was definitely above where it used to sit but nothing that is uncomfortable.

All that I can say is that it came out of a Ludwig factory. The lugs and the bass drum claws give it away. One of our Luddy experts should be able to tell you more...
