Re: Things guitarist tell drummers to do...

Re: Great hip hop drummers?

And his friend 909 as well as his cousin 707 and ancestor 606. And damn fine drummers they are.

Re: News from the UK premier fans FB page

Sad news. I like Premier sets but their offerings I've seen in the flesh in the last couple of years have been solid but underwhelming. It would be a real shame for them to close the UK factory as...

Re: The state of pop music

May I just cite 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon' as one of the worst songs ever written?

Yes, there's not a lot of great Pop music out there in comparison with the amount released but hasn't that always been...

Re: Major Personal Milestone Achieved

That was over a year ago! My my, you do look after them well. As with all my sticks, they're hard to get hold of sometimes!

Caek sounds like a very exciting prospect indeed...

Re: Major Personal Milestone Achieved

I used to have a favourite pair of Vater 7As that had a massive chunk missing out of the middle. For some reason, I loved those sticks and continued playing them for weeks after the chunk appeared. ...

Re: My physical issues and my drumming

Point taken but I was illustrating a point. I can't pretend to know half of what I should about drumming in different styles. I can't pretend to have any idea about Gamelan, or Aboriginal...

Re: My physical issues and my drumming

I doubt even Steve Gadd would say that he has studied most aspects and forms of drumming. Ever done any study into Gamelan? Aboriginal Australian percussion?

The first thing to accept with...

Re: Silly branding things that shouldn't matter (but do!)

Having seen a lot of Noonan kits (he's from my home town and used to have a shop here) I can happily say that his badges are amongst the most tasteful I've seen.

Re: Intersting article on Beats Headphones

You mean the better general quality of cars and stationery? The higher standards of drum production and instrument production in general?

When you remove emotion from the equation, it's pretty...

Re: Let the manufacturer choose them?

Sabian do as well but it will cost you. At least, the last time I checked.

Re: Guru Wood

Lovely medley right there. I've had the pleasure of playing quite a few of Andy's snares at various times and they're all great. Owning four is just showing off!

Re: Help! Can't keep time without a metronome

I know a really great exercise. You find a brick wall - preferably one of those that's slightly older so that some of the mortar has come out and you're left with the edges of the bricks. Then what...

Re: How do you hear it all?

Yeah, it's definitely a gauntlet. In the end, I just got used to playing with whatever was there. Some gigs that I played had no monitoring at all. You find ways around it but making the most of...

Re: How do you hear it all?

Re: Annoying store experience.

Funny thing is nowadays I'm teaching customer service skills to people. It's about doing something positive for the customer - even if you can't necessarily resolve an issue.

Case in point. I...

Re: Playing Live With a Metronome

And I'm sure you have magnificently shit time. Sorry mate, you're just making excuses for your own laziness.

You can learn to play by ear. Ever heard of the Suzuki Method?

As for the 'best'...

Re: Playing Live With a Metronome
