The other thing heard was that all the drums from 2009 that were introduced were "experimental" and dont fit into the usual norms for levels of professionalism and so trying to place them in one...

IIRC, DW stole that idea from Premier, who undersized shells by 3mm the same way they did timpini to create a purer sound. And they also copied the edge snare from cadeson drums.... Its like they say...

Pearl by far.Metalworks are like a step-up snare for kits, thats all. Though i loved the old brushed steel ones. The sensitone is ahh end snare with shocking price

Sonor without a doubt. I have played a lot of DWs, and owned one, and never thought they stacked up sound wise to any other companies pro offerings. Sonor on the other hand sound sublime!

I have the free floating steel (but the older one with die cast hoops and those amazing 15" snare wires), and its GREAT, but I think mostly due to the special snare wires as its SO sensitive. Allow...

Dont be ashamed of using dampening :) I've done clinics and used the remo active snare system dampener. The same that Dave Weckl uses :)

I use that combo sometimes :D So yeah, nothing wrong with heads unless your hitting them with tree trunks, just try watching some tuning videos. Drum center portsmouth have a good one!

Hi MM. Its down to personal preference. I find that if you take a head off and there are more than 3 dents in it, its time to replace. Resonant head however you should be fine. Are these stock heads...
