Re: Only6 months left to drum!!

But seriously....My kids are 3 and 5. I definitely don't drum near as much as I'd like to. There just isn't enough time in the day between work, daycare pickup, making/eating dinner, getting them...

Re: 15 for 30 challenge!

Sounds like something we'd do to Al Qaeda detainees at Guantanamo.

Re: Linear "Bonham" Triplets poll and discussion

I guess what I mean is that it's one of the more famous half-time shuffles. Wasn't saying that all half time shuffles are referred to as the Rosanna. And yes, the bass drum pattern sets it apart...

Re: Linear "Bonham" Triplets poll and discussion

I would agree that he would probably humbly admit he was not the inventor. It's probably the same phenomenon that gave us the "Rosanna Shuffle." Porcaro was not the first to play that kind of beat...

Re: Linear "Bonham" Triplets poll and discussion

1) Right Handed

2) I am better at R hand lead but have been working on L hand lead because I also like the sound of it better...and...it's how "The Man" himself played them.

3) RLK (I'm...

Re: Blasphemy! - Pic Heavy

I'm in your same situation. For the past several years I've used one of those Rock Band game e-kits that doesn't work. I got it free on CL and it's completely adjustable. That with a gibraltar...

Re: Ok, you were right - it is a bit tricky :)

Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this was a bit tricky. I am sort of a perfectionist so I've been holding off on recording a take. I think the key is to keep it simple and figure out...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

It was a K Custom kind of week. KC Special Dry Ride and got a pair of almost new condition KC Hybrid 13" hats on CL.

Re: This is a great interview with Jeff Pocaro

Sad news today. Jeff's brother, Mike, apparently just passed away.

Re: This is a great interview with Jeff Pocaro

Great interview. Listening to him talk simultaneously impresses me and makes me feel not so bad about my own drumming. One of only a handful of drummers I aspire to be like.

Re: CAN I LEARN ON PRACTICE PADS

You can probably take a year (or more) with just a drum pad, stand and two sticks and still make progress. There is so much technique and rudiments and dynamics exercises you can do with just this. ...

Re: The 2015 funky Guru snare competition starts now! Entry details :)

Andy,

Having some trouble downloading the tracks. When I click on the links it just goes to another tab where their is a play button and time bar. I can't seem to download it. Could be an issue...

Re: Just got home from a gig and I'm just so bummed

Ya, I think I agree with you. He could have possibly just retaliated with slapping the cymbal instead. I hope it wasn't a nice cymbal.

Re: Just got home from a gig and I'm just so bummed

This thread reminded me of this.

Angry Bass Player

What would you do? I think the bass player overreacted a bit but it's still funny....to everyone...

Re: Learning some new Bonham

The Rosanna shuffle is a beast of a groove. I've been trying to get it up to speed for a long time. Still working on it. It's very fast and the ghost notes are spaced closely to the snare backbeat...

Re: What was the first concert you went to????

That's a hard act to follow.

Mine was Bush (opened by Toadies and Hum) in 1995ish. Grunge rock was in, man.

Re: Jazz and Matched Grip

I'm going to move ahead with Matched. I'm not concerned about what people think, I was just wondering if traditional would eventually give me more control as I get better but sounds like the answer...

Re: Whiplash Oscar win - will it spur sudden interest in "jazz drumming"?

I think the types of people that will feel a sudden urge to take up drumming after watching a movie are the same types that won't see it through. As WhoIsTony? pointed out, it may result in a flood...
