Re: Drum store being sued

They're UFiP dealers. Maybe they hit a Zildjian ZBT to show her the difference, and that's what caused it.

Re: Drum store being sued

THAT'S MY FAVOURITE DRUM SHOP - how very dare she!

Re: How do you guys learn a song?

I play along using an app called Anytune Pro, which enables me to slow the tempo down, and also to create a loop of any tricksy bits so that I can play them over and over and over again until I think...

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

Chepstow: the most beautiful racecourse in Britain <3

Drums look FAB as always, and the wind chimes look soooo pretty! And of course it's always good to win converts in the best possible way.

Re: screwed up my first gig

Hey, that could have been a LOT worse, so well done!

I dropped a stick in my first gig, I couldn't reach the cymbals (not my set-up), and if I made mistakes, nobody noticed because nobody could...

Re: Member leading other members on in a series of misleading questions in threads.

What they say, I'm afraid. You're judging somebody against your own moral compass. It hurts though, when you have tried to go the extra mile, and you know how grateful you'd be if you were on the...

Re: How sentimental are you about your drums?

I have three kits. One could go tomorrow, if I could only find anybody foolish enough to buy it.

As for the other two, one is my first acoustic kit, which I bought from my teacher. One day,...

Re: Newby Question

There probably isn't a "best", it'll be whatever suits you at the time. Don't be afraid to adjust and re-adjust. When you're finding your way, you aren't consistent, so what is right for you today...

Re: Using Left Foot Hi-Hat, Does It Help Improve Time?

Me too.

When I first started to play, my teacher told me to use my left heel to keep time, but I couldn't. And then one day, I noticed it doing it all by itself. Can't stop the damn thing now!

Re: Tension

Yes, it is, but we can't always control it.

What have you ever said, that you HAD to say, that wasn't uncomfortable? It goes with the territory.

Re: Tension

IME, there's a difference between real tension and created tension.

Real tension is baaaaad. It gets in the way and spoils things.

Created tension says all the things you wanted to say, but...

Haga, that's really funny! What a bizarre thing to say!

Larry, Andy: He was an elderly man, who certainly intended to be complimentary, and when he found out that we were only being paid expenses...

Ahahahaaa you just reminded me of something else! As I was tearing down, wearing normal clothes and my usual hair, a lady said to me "Oh, you're the drummer! When you were playing, you looked about...

Thanks ... I think

Fab gig last night. I knew when I saw the demographic of the audience (old) that they'd love us, and they did. It was a charity do, with cocktails and posh frocks, so it was right up our street.

Re: Hug a Drummer Day

The clue is in "unsolicited". Some people are absolutely required to give hugs.

And I DEMAND a hug from my favourite tall bespectacled Swiss guy.

Re: Hug a Drummer Day

Ugh, no. My personal space is by invitation only. Come at me with an unsolicited hug and you'll get a drumstick in your eye if you're lucky.

Re: Anxiety before a gig

Haven't read Wooten, but that's Werner in a nutshell.

It's ok, I'm making do (light auburn). On the positive side, it means I can wear my favourite lippy.

Re: Anxiety before a gig

I don't have very much gigging experience, but I have a fair few years of performance/competition behind me. I find it very much depends how prepared I am for the event. If I feel insufficiently...
