Re: Snare Strainer Rope

I have an old Acrolite Ludwig snare and I used plain old yarn that I got from my mother to tie on the snares and it is still holding up today (20 some years later).

Re: Do you know anyone else who plays the way I do?

I was just thinking tonight about changing my kit from left to right-handed so I can play open. I am just as good with either foot, so I don't think that will cause any problems. The hard part will...

Re: Remote hi-hat

$250 to $300 depending on the brand. Most of them require a rack to mount them on.

Re: Teaching with songs: moral issues

Don't tell her you dont like the song because of the lyrics, tell her the song is just a bad example of drumming and offer up a few different songs that have better beats!

Re: Your BEST Drum Tips - Share Them With The World

The drum kit does not make the drummer. Most kids believe that if they buy a new DW kit that it will make them a better drummer. A good drummer can play on a TKO set and be just as good as when they...

Re: Rototoms

depends on what sizes you are looking for. The big ones have a cool sound, but I find the 6"-8"-10" combos just sound high pitched and silly. The 16" and 18" rotos can sound cool in the right...

Re: How useful are piccolo snares?

I use a 13" remo piccolo snare once in a while, but I still always go back to my 14" Ludwig Acrolite. I have been using the Acrolite since 1982 and still like it!!

Re: Blues records advise?

BB King, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Ry Cooter for old school examples.

Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gary Moore, Eric Clapton for more modern blues examples.
