Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hello Gavin - do you ever have a problem with your toms detuning by themselves? I've got my 10" S-class tom at a medium-low tuning, and after nearly every song, some of the tuning lugs are loose and...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey Gavin!

As you progressed through your career, did you find that your improvisational nature on the kit presented itself as a challenge? When I practice here at home, I'm continuously trying...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hello Gavin -

I'm hoping you've had some experience with this sort of situation - When you were at the point where you became truly serious about being a drummer (or, a musician in general),...

Re: Does wearing gloves avoid getting blisters when you playing the drum?

I notice that my calluses will flare up and get irritated (not to mention, larger) every time i switch to a new pair of sticks. Once the sticks are worn a bit (around the grip area, nice and...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey there Gavin!

When you're in a live situation with Porcupine Tree, does your sound engineer place ambient mics anywhere in the venue? I'd imagine you get a much more "live" sound by mixing a...

Re: The importance of rimshots

this thread is...wow...some people are severely misinformed...

i'd compare using rimshots in your playing, to using headlights when you're driving a car....certainly not always necessary, but...

Re: Barefoot Drumming

I almost forgot!

I have somewhat large feet (13, EEE width), and if i wear shoes, i usually have problems trying to be precise on the footboards...i'll end up clipping my hi-hat pedal when i'm...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hey Gavin!

on that same note, what do you do when a stick has become frayed and starts splintering from rimshots? (i've read that your S-Hoops can help with stick longevity, especially on the...

Re: Barefoot Drumming

typically barefoot....when i play at church, i have to wear these big bulky boot-type loafer shoes... it's horribly, and you lose all "feel" of the pedals like that.

The only drawback for me to...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

I've seen the YouTube lesson (from which those fills are transcribed, i believe), and i'm wondering if there's any possibility of getting ahold of those other lessons! I've checked Rhythm's website,...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hello Gavin!

I have a question about your mic setup - do you ever find it necessary to mic your cup-chimes more closely? I know you're using some pretty high-end overheads, but i've tried some...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Re: Some new vids up

i wasn't sure if you know, but if you add "&fmt=18", without quotes, to the end of any YouTube link, it plays in much higher quality with stereo sound!

for instance,...

Re: double bass jazz

i disagree with this statement - one of the things i love about Jazz and Fusion, is the use of dynamics throughout a song. A Jazz song that doesn't change or progress is a boring one, in my opinion....

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hello Gavin :)
