I think it should be mentioned that all the great traditional grip players with great fingers probably mastered the free stroke utilizing the wrist before developing fingers--I haven't done a study...

Hi Guys

I think it is important to remember the origin of traditional grip--Back during colonial days the marching drummers carried thier drums off their shoulders which caused the drum to tilt...

I know exactly what your talking about--It seems that when more of the motivating action of the stick comes from the fulcrum than from the rotation of the wrist and forearm you experience...

Whats really interesting is--whether you use one grip or the other you should find that if your a matched player--practicing trad grip will actually help and strengthen your weaker hand and vice...
