Ha! old thread indeed.

Great to hear Buddy is still playing. There is something cool about seeing great players in small quiet places when only you know who it is playing!

Had a similar...

Hi,

I wondered if anyone knows who played drums on the track 'Violet and Blue'. I think it was only released as a single on a soundtrack so hard to find any info on players. It sounds like it...

Re: Jeff Porcaro fans, check this out!!!

Yeah it's a great groove. He did it after Rosanna. I actually prefer it too- sounds more fluid and is nicer to play IMO. However not a fan off the included synth bass and 80's electric toms which...

Re: The legendary Steve Gadd.

sorry if someone has already mentioned it but I just heard "Ludwig" by Bob James (from "Foxy") and it is probably the most technical I have heard Gadd. Absolutely awsome sight playing... Check it out.

Re: How to make a track taste good

For an example of taste I would nominate the track 'Confide In Me' from 'The Offbeat Of Avenues' by manhattan transfer. Mr J Porcaro's playing really ticks all the boxes discribed by BassDriver:...

Re: alesis e-practice pad

I used to use an alesis DM5 module with some koby pads and it made a great practice kit. I haven't tried the alesis pads but think they would be a good pad. Are you getting the whole alesis electric...

Re: The legendary Steve Gadd.

Saw Gadd playing with Eric Clapton the other week in London. Goes without saying he was really tastefull and had a lovely kit sound. Surprised to see him play the whole show with match grip though...

Re: The legendary Steve Gadd.

A really good track I heard with Gadd on recently is "Distracted" by Al Jarreau on his album "This Time". Classic Gadd snare patterns and fills. When you hear it, it can be no one else playing.

Re: Ghost Notes

I would find it hard to measure the distance, while playing. Guess it totally depends on how you play. Some players need less height to get volume.

Re: Pillow poll - Lets get some good responses!!

I prefer using a matress. Nice and bouncy, with a bit of bass added. Pillows are only good for one thing: hitting someone round the head.

Re: 3- or 4-piece?

It'll be a 4 piece with one rack and floor, assuming your still using the snare!

Personally I would stick with a 5 piece. You have the toms if you need them, and you seem to prefer the ride...
