Re: Incredible "policy" from Memphis Drum Shop

I am in Malaysia and buy a lot of stuff online from USA.
This happens all the time. Some manufacturers places restrictions on export.
This is to protect their overseas importers and dealers as well...

Re: The 2015 funky Guru snare competition starts now! Entry details :)

Indeed! And there should be a law against superb, masterful playing and stick tricks at the same time!

Re: Acoustic Drums VS Electronic Drum Kits

I Fully agree. The important thing for you is to be able to play as much as you want without anyone complaining or you being worried about discomforting people.
Maybe you can still get to play an...

Re: Left handed question

I am left handed too. If I was starting out today, I would play open handed on a normal righty kit. It's just a pain in the ass going to jams, sitting int, etc. playing a left hand kit.

Re: When to do Free Gigs and Paid Gigs

The issue here is that sometimes the pro and the hobby guy overlaps.
Drumming is my hobby, it could be soccer, collecting stamps, interior decorating or sewing my own clothes, but it is drumming. I...

Re: Making a difference - Oz update :)

Thanks for posting this - made my day. Things could be better, but look at the smile on the guy's face. Let's hope there is a chance for some recovery, but if not he has the best friends a man can...

Re: Tricks for faster set up

Teach the entire band that no equipment is put on stage unless it's to the final position. Otherwise time is wasted moving things. Same at tear down, things must go straight in the bag/case.

Re: When to do Free Gigs and Paid Gigs

Not all Drummers are professional drummers. Some of us play for fun. I play in a pub most Friday's for free. I have tremendous freedom because I am not obliged to be available every Friday. This to...

Re: How Does Your Band Set Up on Stage?

We are just a 3 piece. The bar we play every Friday has a POS house kit and I am a leftie. So I bring my own and we do it this way.
I can see all the chicks and all the chicks can see me.

Re: Drums and beer at my first ever band tryout!

I often find that a beer before the first set makes me more relaxed and free.
I am not nervous about playing, but it gets the day job out my head and the vibe happens faster. Last night I had 2...

Re: Sabian purchasing Crescent Cymbals

Matt, I don't for a minute dispute that. I was referring to development and marketing of the type of cymbals Crescent does. Somehow they did that with a very small organisation and Sabian didn't....

Re: Tell me about this

Swarovski. I could make a joke about this, but it may get me banned.
Let's just say it may not be the manliest kind of thing to own a snare with Swarovski crystals in it.
Btw how do they sound?

I have been trough that and was probably not great at playing at the correct tempo every time, speeding up fills and all the usual suspects. So I started playing every song with a click. I only...
