Re: It's the room not the kit !

I think maybe the floor has the most influence on the sound..........

Most influential factor IMO is ceiling height and shape, along with material, generally speaking.

Re: Questions about kick drum heads

if someone says they have a 20" kick drum and I send them a vinyl sticker that is 20" in diameter is that going to be enough to cover it entirely or should it be 21 or 22"?

The max I would go as a...

Re: Snare drum Olympics - help needed - opportunity!

Pretty cool of GURU to offer this drum.

A great deal, and just think, it might even win the Snare Drum Olympics which would add to the provenance.

Re: Hey Gretsch experts...

5" RENOWN snare drums have 8 lugs, 6.5's have 10 lugs.

RENOWN badges have 'RENOWN' written on them.

Re: anyone owns a vaughncraft?

The first one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Solid-Cherry-5-5x14-Snare-Drum-/251625284497?pt=US_Drums&hash=item3a96092391) is, and at $250, not bad for a single ply.

A couple other single ply examples...

Re: Peavey Radial Pro 501 for $180?

I believe the drum PEAVEY compared their design to on the NCPA's vibrometer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufPf2XgPoWw) was a YAMAHA 900 series.

Re: Hi hats and air lock, no luck.

Re: Peavey Radial Pro 501 for $180?

Get over there with cash if they're in good shape! The 501 series are wrapped (blk, wht, red), 1000 paint/lacquer. PEAVEY and ARBITER design drums didn't really catch on for some reason.

Cool...

Re: GRETSCH BROOKLYN mediocre bad quality?

Happens to the best of em. Even the stuff NASA launches into space blows up sometimes.

Just unfortunate if it happens to you, you then become a cog in the wheel of the machine that sorts it out. ...
