Re: Business cards.

Nice job! Business card websites are making it pretty easy for people without design experience to end up with nice looking cards.

And yeah, from my business card experience so far, Vistaprint has...

Re: Yamaha Rock Tour

I have one in a textured ash finish and I really like that finish too. The matte is quite different from anything out there as well, but as you probably know you'll be paying a little extra for that...

Re: Getting away from the hi-hat

I play in church too, and it all it depends on the song! I try and switch it up 50/50 throughout the service. Maybe 50/50 per song, even. Nothing wrong with experimenting, but I suggest figuring that...

Re: Outdoor photo shoot

I would love to just be able to make my own snare drum. How/where did you develop you skills to get into doing that? Obviously it takes time to design and build them, but does it cost about the same...

Re: ?uestlove's Snare Tuning

I have to say, I use his signature sticks for certain songs and when I play in church, and those sticks actually change my snare sound quite a bit.

Re: Yamaha Drums

This, I do not know.

Well here's the stock photo (http://data.yamaha.jp/sdb/product/image/main/raw/h/hxtcii/2B68A0494F5946098736430B62119F37_12073.jpg) of the piece I think you're talking...

Hexrack got!

Re: your throw off ....where is it?

Somewhere like 8:00. Easily in reach, but that way the drum sits correctly. Meaning the Remo logo on my batter head is right around 11:00, which is always directly above the drum badge, facing out...

Re: Drum Colors & Gigs

Yes, it's important to have a neutral audition kit. That way you can land so many gigs and then when it's go time you can bring whatever flashy monstrosity of a kit you want. ;)

Re: Yamaha Drums

Local drum shop, Huber & Breese in Fraser, MI. They ordered it direct from Yamaha, and I think it's coming from Japan. They put it on a ferry to California then it ships to Michigan. They said it'd...

Re: What have you forgotton to take to a gig?

I forgot my throne a couple gigs back. We were only about 20 minutes away from home, but I called my brother and had him bring it up with him since he hadn't left the house yet. Well then he gets...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Well, I ordered myself a three-legged Hexrack II yesterday. Really excited to mess around with it. Should get it by the end of the month!

Re: Yamaha Gigmaker Drums

I hear they're good! The build quality is excellent, especially for an introductory drum. Yamaha's hardware is second to none. But honestly at the price point I don't know why anyone taking drum...

Re: Yamaha aluminum snares: Anybody using them?

I have a Yamaha Steel snare that I got to sound pretty amazing. Got more than a few compliments on it when I used it. I can only imagine the Aluminum one sounding better. Of course what I did was...

Re: sell my ddrum dominion maple for Yamaha Rock Tour?

What do you want to know? :) They're pretty awesome for the price, and my Rock Tour has been great to me.

I've had them a year and a half now, still love 'em. Like you, I'm always looking for the...

Re: Zildjian Customer Service AAA+++

I have to assume they're working on running changes to make them better. I would hope so, anyway. I bought the 20" A Custom EFX shortly after experiencing a crack on the 16" version. Of course, it is...

Re: What size is your main snare? Why?

I really like the sounds I can get from deep snares. Even when I crank it I still get a nice, deep hollow sound to go along with that crack and I love that combination. My main snare is currently a...

Re: Yamaha Rock Tour...

It's a great kit for the price. Of course I'm still waiting for the day when I can afford an even better one, but in the meantime I really have no complaints about my Rock Tour.

They do come in...

Re: Your approach attacking really hard songs.

Yep. Where on easier songs you might be able to stop at step 3 or 6 and then you'll look up live videos and sheet music later to really polish it off. On more complicated songs it's going to take...

Re: Transporting your drums and "load in"

I've been playing for 13 years and gigging for about half that. I only just got cases for my drums three months ago. Makes it a lot easier to carry everything in, that's for sure.

Re: Help a Snare Ho. Which snare next?

Yamaha LOUD series snare. I have the 14x7" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8i4T7XLBmE&feature=related) but they also make this 14x5.5" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8H76NI9SXc&feature=relmfu)...

Re: Jack White's drummer

I saw the whole episode, and I had more of an issue (well, curiosity more than anything) with Jack's other drummer and his set-up on the second song and how that worked for him. His toms and snare...

Re: Headphones for Drummers

I use the Bose noise cancelling headphones. They cut down on a lot of the drum noise while still allowing me to hear what I'm playing as well as the track I'm trying to play along with. They're the...
