Re: Band break-up/quitting...

That's a shame, man, but you did what you had to do IMO. Good luck moving forward!

Re: In defence of multiple toms.

yeah...i sort of joined the debate instead of answering the question, lol.

You are using them musically, and in good taste. I do firmly believe, however, that you could be just as musical with...

Re: It sounds like I have an audition for a Ska band this weekend

Congrats, man!

I have always dug the energy in that type of music...it's just plain ol' fun to listen to, and I would imagine it's fun to play as well.

Listening to D.I.L.E.....Guess I've...

Re: Playing live for the first time in 20 Years!

That's a good idea...I sometimes tote my snare and cymbals when playing on an unfamiliar kit, too...not that mine are any better, but I am at least used to them. If you step inside and realize that...

Re: First experience playing live with a looper

Loopers can be tricky. If the loop is not started and looped perfectly, then it will be a tad bit off regardless. When done right, though, and if you can hear it well, I love 'em.

Re: In defence of multiple toms.

I'll stick with the good ole 5 piece 2 up - 1 down setup. Is it cool? Not really... Is it minimalist? Nope... I like it though :)

I play a 4 piece in church, it fits the music perfectly. If...

Re: Programmed Drums. Yay, or nay?

I prefer live drums. But I like music in general, and if someone wants to use programmed drums in a specific setting, then that's fine by me.

I don't, however, like to see a live band perform...

Re: Listening

Giving the id a "go" at it is definitely not something that can be summoned (in my experiences, anyway), at the drop of a hat. It is more of a mentality that I practice in daily life, and hope that...

Re: my fiancee is letting me put drums in living room ; )

All in good fun...I had a 3-month long ongoing argument about where my drums were going to go when we moved into this (tiny) house we were looking at.

We didn't move there :).

Re: Listening

During a performance, I'll listen to the whole, but I usually key in on whomever I know is going to make the next adjustment. If the bassist is about to do a walkdown, I'll listen specifically for...

Re: Too much time between songs during a gig

Love Todd Snider!! In a folky atmosphere, and with his wit, it is certainly acceptable...reminds me, in a way, of Tom Waits. I really enjoy the "behind the music" type of atmosphere at their shows....

Re: What do you want to know about drummers?

If you were stranded on a tropical island, all alone, with one piece of drumming gear, what would it be?

Re: Going under the knife

Here's to a quick recovery!

I like to listen to tunes and try to really visualize myself playing the drum track...it's good for boredom, anyway :)

Re: Drumless Tracks Link

Lol, yep. The tracks are free to download. However, lol, you are then prompted to sign up with the company that hosts the files in their "cloud"....which costs a fee. I couldn't sign up for some...

Re: Port Hole Patching?

I hope that someone has a good remedy for you, but if it were me, I would leave it alone.

I would think that anything that you attach to the reso head will dampen your sound...

Re: Can a drum kit sound as good as a recorded and well produced drum kit?

If you practice enough at tuning, and understand where your drums are happy, you should be able to make almost any kit sound worthy to be miked and sent straight through a board without sound...

I was thinking a little about this thread last night, and I came upon a thought...dangerous, but I followed that thought to its logical conclusion, and now I want to share.

This is not quite on...
