You can pick up a used DW9000 for around that price. I got mine for $180 shipped on eBay. Make sure it comes with both the chain and the nylon strap though! That nylon strap rocks on it.

Also check out Dale Crover of The Melvins. I recall him playing something like an 18" rack tom over a 26" kick with a 20" floor tom. #crazy

Tried this look on my kit. I could not get it high enough. Ended up switching it back since I never had any intentions to keep it this way.
