Re: Taye Drums. Any good ?

I've been at this for a long time and I have owned and played just about every manufacture's drums. I got a great deal on a set Taye drums 4 years ago bought them for a gigging set to save my 1966...

Re: Perhaps it's time to get sensible?

If you are going to mount your toms on the bass drum I would suggest a 20 x 16. The extra 2" makes the drum more stable for mounting the toms. The 20" x 18 I feel is just too deep and makes the...

Re: Forgot to bring my throne this morning.

For the longest time I sat on my trap case. Couldn't dream of doing that now. Of course I was a lot younger back then.

Re: New drumset

I have owned just about every major brand drum set over the years and about five years ago I was looking for a small fusion sized kit for smaller jobs. I had a early 60's Ludwig 3 ply kit in...

Re: Drum trends that caught on

I think another big trend is contouring bearing edges. At one time you just got what the manufacturer supplied. Then the trend to alter and to come up with different edges for different applications...

Re: Thinking about building a cajon

Just for what it is worth. I also wanted bottom end in my cajon so I bought a Pearl Sonic Boom cajon. It has a walnut front plate and I just looked at it and I do believe that it is a solid piece. It...

Re: Switch from Taye to Tama StageStar

I'm currently playing a Taye ProX kit too. I have had well over 20 different drum kits from almost every manufacturer, and the Tayes are among my very favorite in build quality and sound. I would...

Re: 20" kick drum

I believe most of the above post have answered your questions about the bass drum size. Also there were a lot of good answers about tom sizes. All I can do at this point is to tell you what I use. I...

Re: Gretsch Catalina Club tuning

Before you drill I took the mount off of the original suspension mount and put it on a rims mount. Worked great.

Does anybody know of any one in the Pittsburgh, Pa area that does bearing edges? Thanks in advance.

Re: Which Drum Set is Better

You are going to find out that the sizes on both of those kicks are going to be a pain to transport and are going to take up a lot of room on stages.

Re: load of drums, but which config?!...

My vote is 20/12/16. But the 20/12/14 will also work. I have the same delima. I have 10/12/13/14/16 and a 20 inch kick. I have settled on 13/16/20. At least for now. Would really like to try a 15...

Re: Pearl's Hybrid Exotic cast aluminum snare

Bo, you are as predictable as the wind. You love what you have at the moment. And that could change any time.

Re: Refinished my kit

Great job and beautiful looking drums, but the white hoops just don't get it for me. Otherwise nice job.

Re: Comprehensive Taye ProX Review

I bought my Tayes as a fusion kit 10,12,14 and 20. I bought these to use for smaller clubs and gigs. I had a set of 1964 Ludwig Classics in 13,16 and 22 kick for larger gigs. Well I ended up likeing...

Re: Worth the price?

I agree with your idea about going with a 20 kick ( i really like 20x16) and a 14x14 floor tom, but I think a 12 mounted tom would be more versatile. Another way that I lightened up my load was to...

Re: Detailed review: Taye StudioMaple BeBop

Compact, When I bought my Tayes I already had my 64 Ludwig kit. The Luddys were 22x14 13x9 and 16x16> So I was looking for a smaller kit for smaller gigs. I bought the Tayes in 10,12,14 with a 20...

Re: Detailed review: Taye StudioMaple BeBop

I have stated before that I purchased a Taye ProX series and it has become my favorite set. So much in fact that I sold my 64 Ludwig Classic kit because they did not get used after I bought my Tayes....

Re: Long, Detailed in depth review of the Taye GoKit
