Re: In the studio

That's a tough one. Have you thought of showing them remastered stuff, and comparing them to the original mixes? Like taking the old Death CDs and comparing them to the remastered versions? I...

Re: Los Angeles drum shops

Thanks Bermuda.

My plan is to atleast make it to pro drum, because that place is amazing and we'll be in Hollywood. Last time I was in the area, I think Sam Ash was across the street from GC. I...

Los Angeles drum shops

We are going to LA this week to go to the happy place, and while we're down there we are going to do a sight seeing day. I haven't gone around to the LA drum shops/music stores in about a decade. My...

Re: What's your favorite cover (maybe limit to 2-3 songs) that your band plays right now?

The only cover my band does is Without Judgement, by Death. I love the middle section of that song.

Re: How many RPMs could you withstand from a spinning drum riser and still be able to play?

I think it would depend on the individual, and just as important how long the mic cables are. I remember reading an interview, with I think Tommy Lee, and he said that one night the tech lost count...

Re: Lars Ulrich using DW Hardware

The pic above looks like the drop lock is engaged, so there isn't anything tricky going on. If you disengage it, the top cymbal would drop down. I may be missing something in your question.

Re: Your weirdist gig?

The one that stands out for me was when we played a strip club. Melodic death metal doesn't go with stripping, those women didn't know what to do with the music is trucking along at 200-220bpm. ...

Re: Big audition day

Congrats Bo!
When does the show start? My family and I will be at the happy place the second week of October, and would love to see the performance.

Re: Anyone know what this set is?

It's a Sonor kit, not Yamaha at all. If you make the picture lager, you can see the Sonor emblem on the lugs. I'm guessing it's from their "Force" series kits, which one I have no idea.

Re: What are cool open-handed set ups?

Left hand lead, but right footed.
Thats not my kit.
I'm naturally left handed but right footed, so my kit is set up is set up this way, but i have hats and a ride on the right side too. I'd post...

Re: Gretsch USA Custom 14x6.5 Cast Aluminum

That would make sense, DW owns Gretsch and would use the same place to source the shell from.

Re: Light hearted Tuesday nonsense :)

Thats a bit excessive, I would think you could get by with a hand engraver and a jig of some sort. Are you using tungsten for the blanks?

Re: Hopefully a new gig!

Let us know how it goes. My family and I will be at the happy place in the beginning of October, we could give a review of the show if it's going by then.

Re: I played my first show last night!!

Sounds like you did a good job and he a fun gig. It gets easier, and things will be more automatic, in a good way, the more you play out.
Little mistakes happen to all of us live, and as long as...

Re: Making the jump to two bass drums!

What ever you do, don't get a pearl rack. They look like bleacher seats, and are fugly.

I realize you have a connection with Pearl, and I would suggest getting one of their racks and trade it in...

Re: Making the jump to two bass drums!

I think I almost got it right in the other thread, when I said you'd be back with a 40" kick.

I've been using two kicks since about '93-94, and now double pedals are weird to use.

If I were...

Re: Mapex Falcon Pedal Cam Cracked!

Contact your local Mapex dealer and get this sorted out. The cam shouldn't be breaking on a new pedal. The sooner you contact them, the sooner it will get fixed.

Re: Slayer Final World Tour

You're not the only one, I can't get into them either.

When that tour came through my area the line up was Testament, Anthrax, LOG, Behemoth, and Slayer. I'm sort of glad i didn't go, because it...

Re: How many trigger your drums live?

I trigger my kicks when I play. I play metal and it's fairly normal to have triggered kicks. It doesn't make playing anything easier, because all your mistakes will be obvious to everyone in the...

Re: THE MONSTER MARCHING KIT - A whole kit made from marching drums!!!

That's exactly what I was thinking. You may want to have someone take a look/video of the window while you play. Your kicks may be too close to do damage, but better safe than sorry.

Re: Moving on

Be up front and honest, but not in a way that will piss band members off, and burn bridges. If you're wanting something new musically let them know. You've been playing with them for 8 years, so I...

Re: Trying to decide dilemma

There's a simple answer for you......a thick, heavy shelled bell brass/bronze snare. You will forget all about supra's, and if you don't wear hearing protection, your hearing too.🙉

Re: Being sensible and a Pearl SSC kit ;)

Didn't you have a hybrid pearl snare, the metal ones?

If you're always comparing snares to a supra, why not just use a supra?

Re: Which do you enjoy most: Playing by yourself, jamming with others, or playing live?

To me they're all connected, with solo practice at the base of everything. Then jamming with the band, where you apply what you worked out in solo practice (I play originals), then you take it all...

Re: Being sensible and a Pearl SSC kit ;)

I predict he has a 40" kick in days/weeks.

In all seriousness, if the 20" is the right size for you keep it. When you need a bigger kick tone, get a TM-2 and trigger a backing/reinforcement...
