Re: SQ2 Birch (shell thickness… need your help)

I think this is great. Yes, we understand that without getting to fully listen to all of the options in person, it can be nerve wracking to lay down all of that coin. But like zenghost says, your...

Larry,

Do you know how awesome you are? Goodness. You make it sound like the best place on earth! Renting tables..providing drink and food...and FIRE PIT! DRUMS!! Ugh. I don't think I can...

Re: DRUM INSTRUCTION DVD & BOOK REVIEWS

I agree. These leave a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think this thread is intended for publishers or anyone associated with the project to hawk their wares. I actually think Lee should delete...

Re: Buying First Drum Kit

Used, used and used. Have you checked Craig's list or other places to buy used? For your price range, it is the best bet. For that budget, is that just the drums? What about cymbals and hardware...

Re: StarClassic 100% birch

I have a Starclassic Maple kit and I'd strongly consider doing it. But what would make the case is listening to the birch kit. I mean, I have trouble believing that the maple kit is worth 1000...

Re: I think we've got some work to do ;)

Optical illusion? Maybe. But that stack on the right looks like three different shells...each with a larger diameter bottom than the top...like the shell is tapered from one head to the next. Like...

Re: A mod that has made my life a little easier

Not only will I end up doing this exact mod, but I bet you just inspired me to take my grinding wheel to all kinds of stuff. Thanks Larry!

Re: looking for a book

I feel like an ignorant boob for not knowing of this book. If this guy was planning on getting a free copy, there is one benefit to this thread, as I'm going to go buy the book :)

Re: Sonor SQ2 and Dale's Drumshop

^----You drove 10 hours round trip with no radio??? You should contact Guiness as that might be a new world record. Reminds me of people that help someone try and earn a record that end up earning...

Re: Sonor SQ2 and Dale's Drumshop

Dale's is that far away from me too. I always wish it was just down the street as they have such a huge selection. SQ2 in beech. Man, you have to come back (in 6 months) and make a thread showing...

Re: An attempt at a policy change here

I'm bothered by the turn of events that has led to Andy (Keep it simple) not posting all of the wonderfully informing posts as usual.

I enjoyed all of the information disseminated from every one...

Re: Outlining Your Kit

I use a roll of Velcro ties. I think most people use them for cables and such, but they stick to my rug and then can be moved or used for cables and such later on :)

You'd think it was me getting this sweet, nearly one of a kind drum set because the flow of the above made me laugh a good bit.

I just read this thread in amazement :)

Know this Larry...I'm soooo jealous. And if 8mile is bringing the PBR, I'm bringing the PB&J and I'm coming out too.

Re: Several gifts from Brother-In-Law. (one a deflated ego)

Highly entertaining read. Thanks for sharing. I love the "retiring from drumming to pursue roller derby."

And, yeah, it is always demoralizing when someone is quitting something that you have...

See that! A lot of us guys are in the same boat. I really did make the "lower domain" the nicest in the house. I tell my young kids that it is our "clubhouse" now. But they can't bring any of...

Re: Some Drum Set maintenance questions

Not quite done yet, Big D. But according to Motley above, I might have messed it up ;) Although it looks pretty sweet now (regarding the drum rehab).

Yeah, the basement renovation was sick. I...

Re: Some Drum Set maintenance questions

Ugh! lol...well I used the pure stuff. I put it on very thinly. Waited 10 min or so and then wiped it down with a soft clean cloth. And would repeat that an hour later or so. It ended up drying to...

Re: Some Drum Set maintenance questions

The Tung oil I purchased has no varnish in it, Steve B. Straight 100 percent tung oil. Super thick like maple syrup.

Les, I do not think the inside of my shells have any coating on them. One,...
