Re: Where can I get a snare weight?

Or...you could just slap on a Genera or Genera Dry and be done with it.

Does this look like a good deal...

I love the vintage-y look of the kit.

I think this set normally goes for around $1600 retail. If so, that's a pretty significant discount.

What do you guys think?...

Re: Why aren't Recording Customs popular today?

Yeah. Tommy Aldridge (Whitesnake) made 'em the hottest thing in metal back in the day. As a result of his endorsement, TONS of metal guys started playing 'em. And don't forget that Weckl played them...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

Yup. Those online cymbal purchases can be a BEOTCH can't they? You think to yourself "It's a K Dark...how bad could it be?" How wrong we were! LOL!

You mean this kit?

Which he was still playing when I saw him as recently as 2013. Apparently he is not a slave to fashion.

Yep. That's right. I resurrected...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

Hmmm. Aren't they just Keller assemblies? If so, that would be odd to me as MOST of the Keller based kits I've played on over the years have ranged from really good to excellent sounding. Perhaps I'm...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

My worst ever purchase was any cymbal I ever bought online. I tried it three times. Yep. Burned three times because the price was SO good I just couldn't resist. Lesson learned: Never buy a cymbal...

Re: Buying a new kit soon...need some advice...

So...I wanna get this straight. Most of you are recommending even shallower toms? Like Hyper-Drive/Short Stack sizes?

Re: Buying a new kit soon...need some advice...

I think you may have misunderstood. I was referring my old Yamaha's...power tom depths. I don't think many companies even make those sizes anymore. I do think they look cool. But I've already noted...

Thanks for the feedback slowrocker. I'm definitely leaning in that direction.

No one else has any thoughts? Anyone? Bueller?

Re: The Best Drum Brands In Order Are????

I just don't get these kinds of threads. I can take a high end/pro line drum set from any manufacturer, slap on my favorite heads, start tuning and get great sound out of 'em. Do some tune more...

Re: This seems a little high?

Yeah, It's crazy what some people think they're gonna get for used gear. I never cease to get a chuckle out of some of the listings on eBay. I just don't understand what people are thinkin'. They...

Re: Ludwig Stainless Steel Drum Set

Why don't you want to remove the hardware and soak it in a EvapoRust bath? Some kind of non-standard screws or something like that?

I removed every single piece of hardware on my SC kit and...

Re: Ludwig Stainless Steel Drum Set

Wow. Stainless steel Ludwigs. Looks like they're in pretty good shape to me. If the snare is the only drum that's badly pitted, it could easily be replaced. I know, it wouldn't be vintage.

They...

Re: The future of Yamaha Drums

That's a NICE looking kit. I'm not a fan of that snare throw either. But other than that, she's a beauty.

Re: The future of Yamaha Drums

I play an RC kit. Power tom sizes from the 90's. Bought it used on EBay for a steal of a price. It's a nice red lacquer finish with the wood grain showing through...I think they called it cherry? It...

Re: This seems a little high?

Beautifully kept drum kit. The color is a little rare. Other than that, nothing all that unusual about them. I would say $1400 is a bit more in line with their market value.

Buying a new kit soon...need some advice...

I'm just hammering out the details in my mind and I'd like some professional advice. I've decided to buy a pretty large kit. Three up/two down toms. And I'm just pondering the rack tom selection. I...

Re: THE DRUM MODIFICATION THREAD.

Very nice job! I did a similar restoration on an old set of Super Classics. Actually, it's still a WIP. :-) But it's looking pretty good. And the great thing is, if you ever need to replace any of...
