Re: Sonor help

The lugs on the kick are spaced further away from the hoop compared to my Sonor Phonic, Phonic Plus or Performer kicks. The extra holes are also curious. A photo of the kick bearing edge and interior...

Re: Yamaha Recording Custom 14X8 Snare drum

Even though the snare in the pic has RC style lugs I don't think it was part of the RC line. The RC snares had "box" type lugs. This may have been one of the concert series snares even though the...

Re: Drums suck!

It would be interesting to measure the difference between how much the reso head moves in a vented vs non-vented drum when the batter head is struck. I would expect the reso head moves less in the...

Re: Drums suck!

I would suggest that people keep an open mind about the Golden Ratio and it's application to real world products. I am a designer and manufacturer of high end audio products, and even though my...

Re: Drums suck!

If I am correct when I state:

"If there is no vent, the result of the batter strike will be both displacement of the reso head and probably some amount of compression of the air molecules...

Re: Drums suck!

A very interesting discussion so far! I'm glad that science and the laws of physics are at the center of this discussion.

In my view, the quantity of air that is being displaced when the batter...
