Re: Some band drama

All bands have elements we don't like. If the music is worth it, then cool. If the music isn't happening, then who wants to do that?

It's easier being a hired gun. However, nothing good comes...

Re: Is it a myth that certain drumming legends have an inimitable 'feel' on the kit?

Why, to be totally bitchin and badass of course!

I don't agree to consciously trying to emulate another drummer. Unconsciously is another story. That's a function of what the drummer has absorbed...

Re: DW pedal on Facebook... How?

At least it sits on the floor nice and flat :)

Rock and roll.

Re: Is it a myth that certain drumming legends have an inimitable 'feel' on the kit?

I'm not sure if it was ever a myth in the first place. It's kind of a fact. Everybody brings something a little different to the table. A drummer's touch is a signature, there's a lot of signatures....

Re: How do I tell my friend that his expensive custom handmade snare is shit?

Let me put a finer point on it... If you have the correct trumpet tuning-wise....you should be able to play any style of music in that tuning with one trumpet.

I contend that drums are the same....

Re: How do I tell my friend that his expensive custom handmade snare is shit?

I'm still in the dark as to why a snare drum in good working order won't work for certain types of music. I think that's a total load of crap. Why don't trumpet players have this issue?

Because...

Re: Songs With Variable Tempo

Damn right. Part of my job is to not get excited internally. I play MUCH more on point when I am in control of my inner weather.

This applies to my situation, not everyone's.

Re: Ever think about how coll it would be to replace in-store pianists with in-store drummers?

I have been very depressed since learning that some of the members here have in store pianists, when I don't. I feel discriminated against, I can't help it. I may have to write my newly elected...

Re: I'm thinking about staining the inside of my Pearl SSCs... Am I crazy?

I love the look of shells with the inside stained. I've brushed lacquer on the inside of a shell to brighten up a drum, with positive results. A stain soaks in, lacquer basically doesn't. I don't...

Re: Counting off the song w/banter

So inconsiderate. Just for once, I'd love to be a problem to these kinds of people, because they are a problem to me. I just want to shake them. If it were my band I'd levy heavy fines anytime that...

Re: Counting off the song w/banter

There's good banter and bad banter. If it's bad, stay or leave are your choices. You have a case of the classic lead singer syndrome on your hands, it sounds like anyway. Is it worth quitting over?...

Re: New Tama Artwood birch snare <$200

I got one of these for my stepson. It's a nice sounding snare. Great price too.

Re: Almost lost my cymbals

They sell affordable RFID tool trackers.

Everything you want to track gets chipped.

I never tried them so I don't know how good they work.

Re: Covers that don't work with the original drum part...

I think I know the answer to that one. Maybe. Here goes:

It's the very first pitfall encountered, time is boring.

TIME IS NOT BORING G DAMMIT. (when played properly)

I'll go out on a limb...

Re: Almost lost my cymbals

Damn, you got me on the first paragraph. Well done lol. Glad it was a joke.

From the looks of the tire tread, I'd say it's a P-235/75 Pirelli tire, mounted on an Rover Estate Wagon. A brown Rover...

Re: Covers that don't work with the original drum part...

The drums have at the most 1/2 second of space between hits. The chorus has a backbeat. Are the guys that bad they can't hold it together for 1 second?

Re: Covers that don't work with the original drum part...

Ain't that the truth. My last band, the guy would try and educate people about a song, or say musical stuff that no one cared about. It's not like they were transfixed and he had all their attention....

Re: Almost lost my cymbals

I kept them. That was 2010. I gave them all away within the last 2 years. My stepson got the SKB case.

Easy come, easy go.

Re: I Just Became a Bosphorus Artist

I can understand that. I'm sorry for going there, but it really puzzled me to the point where I couldn't contain myself.

Again, nice work. I wish you all the best man.

Re: I Just Became a Bosphorus Artist

Congratulations Jonathan. Cool beans.

I just don't understand why you played them your whole life, you wanted a deal, you got a deal, they offer you cymbals and you turn them down.

I so don't...

Re: Covers that don't work with the original drum part...

I'd say if you run across a song like that, chuck it. Too many great tunes available.

If I could offer an opinion..."Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"...not my first choice for wedding set.

Re: Covers that don't work with the original drum part...

"Bell Bottom Blues" is another one of those backbeat on the "1" and "3" tunes.
It works great.

I don't quite get the gist of this thread. If everyone is playing the correct original parts, I'm...
