I'm the exact same way as the OP and I cross my hands over. Works well for me but I suppose its all preference, whatever feels comfortable.

I think I read somewhere that back in the 70's Phil wanted to retune his snare after every song because he hit so hard.

I own it and I'd say its a good supplement to practice. I actually started drums because of the game (got to expert level and decided I wanted to play the real deal) and I got play some decent stuff,...
