Re: Trusting others with your kit?

On the few occasions I let others used my kit some kind of damage (usually unintentional) has occurred - scratched/dented wood hoops, scratched tom shell, scratched chrome, etc. I no longer let...

Re: Yamaha Drums

The prices I see on eBay for used Stage Customs makes them look like a great value. If anybody knows about an 18" tom or kick in the older style (full length lugs) in the dark red (not cranberry...

Re: Anyone ever try to poach your seat?

I agree. Letting the band management know your available if circumstances change with the current drummer is a pro-active approach that may pan out in the future. Putting down the current drummer...

Re: Another Band Drama Thread

The "naturally" loudest instrument in most bands is the drums. The drummer should, IMHO, keep his/her volume level in check as is appropriate for the venue and style of music. All of the other...

Re: Playing With No Wraps

As others have said, it is not a "problem" and the drums may actually sound somewhat better as the wood shells are not being damped by the wrap covering so they can resonate more freely. Unfinished...

Re: Ghost Drummer for Kiss, Jimi, Alice Cooper etc

Hi Steve, thanks for your reply.

Even though I'm a huge Beatles fan, and Ringo has been a major influence on me, until I started reading about their recording process I must admit that I was...

Re: Ghost Drummer for Kiss, Jimi, Alice Cooper etc

Hi Steve,

I have read that the end of Dear Prudence had McCartney, Lennon and Harrison all playing on the same drum kit at the same time. If true, my guess is that Paul was sitting on the throne...

Re: Pearl or Gibraltar drum rack?

I've used Gibraltar round tube racks for many years and presently own five of them. I have never had any slipping issues. I tighten the clamps properly and use memory locks to assure exact...

Ringo / Beatles AWESOME drum head on order! Other items also available.

I have commissioned artist Russ Lease to recreate for me an exact replica of what is probably the most famous single item in all of pop music - Ringo’s drum head from the Beatles’ first Ed Sullivan...

Yamaha Recording Custom - 22" kick head/tuning advice please

Hi All,

Re: Deal of a lifetime or ripped off for being gullable

"Scratch resistant" is not the same as "scratch proof".

I own quite a few Sonor drums (but not an S Class) and this kit would have very limited resale ability IMHO without proper badges and...

Re: Combining Different Hoops..Anyone Tried Doing This?

I generally use the same hoops on top and on bottom. One exception is on a 6.5" x 14" Ludwig bronze Supraphonic keystone badge I own. I purchased it new and played it with the supplied hoops for...

Remo Emperor vs. Emperor "Batter" - are they different?

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 1980s vintage Yamaha Recording Custom kit (standard depths - Cherry Wood). Most of the heads on it are in pretty good condition and I also replaced a couple of...

Hi Gruntersdad,

Thanks for the link.

This Saturday I was at one of the regular jams I attend here in L.A. with an array of amazing players (studio and "civilian") playing a wide selection of...

Re: The Muscle Shoals Sound

Hi Gruntersdad,

Thanks for the link but I I had found that previously and it seems to only list the albums and not individual sings.

Re: The Muscle Shoals Sound

Is there a full list of the hit songs on which Roger Hawkins played? I've searched Google but couldn't find one, I could only find a list of album credits. Thanks!

Re: The Best Hard Rock/Metal Snare!

I agree. I was going to suggest the vintage TAMA Imperialstar (Mastercraft) snares as well. The 6.5" depth gives terrific body and punch! I'd suggest finding one with cast hoops, the roller bridges...

Yamaha Cherry Wood (Recording Custom 1980s)
and
Yamaha Cherry Wood (Stage Custom - the earlier version with full...
