Re: The matching snare

But what about if the snare that came with the kit isn't the 'voice' that you're looking for? As it's been mentioned the snare is the most personal drum on the entire kit.

What if you like maple...

Re: The matching snare

I don't actually like the look of matching snares for some reason.

If I'm watching a drummer on tv I like trying to figure out what snare they are playing, if a different colour to the kit.

I...

Re: Anyone ever try to poach your seat?

No, never. As far as I know anyway....

Play with a high profile singer and I know cats would at least try and get in on the band for the profile of playing with her. It's all part of the...

Re: Bass vs. drums challenge video - released here first :)

Me and Mrs Juniper will definitely be there this year again.

That would be very, very kind of you Andy. I'd love that, consider me in for it.

Re: Does anyone else hate splash cymbals?

I don't mind them, provided they are used correctly. Some drummers over use them at times, but I like to hear them occasionally, rather than frequently

I've owned a 8" splash for 17years or so but...

Re: When people ask you to 'play something', what do you play?

Improvise on the spot. Whatever comes in my head at the time I guess

Re: Favorite Song to Rock out To?

Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix

I have to stop what I'm doing and tap away every single time.

Ps Happy Birthday to Mitch, what a drummer.

Re: Bass vs. drums challenge video - released here first :)

Meet her at the London Drum Show that day we all met and briefly chatted in a lift.

I've been a fan ever since I first bought Live Wood by Paul Weller back in '97 I think. Had to contain the...

Re: The "I wish I hadn't opened my big mouth" thread ;)

Go for it Andy, once in a lifetime opportunity

I love situations like this, now a regular to a local clubs Blues Jam night and although we're not talking about a situation with world class players...

Great video

Well done to all involved. Absolutely fascinating to watch throughout.

A real treat. Some great playing on show.

Re: Tee Drums / Alan Tocknell anyone know 'em ?

I had some (brief) contact with Alan last year, the reason why it was brief I will explain.

Got all excited to find a drum maker miles away from my hometown in Gloucestershire, I contacted Alan by...

Re: London Drum Show - they listened!

Good stuff, glad they listened to feedback. It was very intense.

You know you have an issue when drummers complain about the noise!!

Will look forward to it again.

Re: Any pre gig routine?

No routine as such

Normally my pre gig time is spent rushing from work to whatever London venue we're playing. If I get some time I'll listen to recordings on route (if we're doing any new songs)...

Re: I was wrong.

Just found it, pm me your email and I'll send a photo over to you. It's in the November 2013 issue with Ray Luzier on the front cover.

Also, PM me your address and I'll post you the issue to keep...

Re: First Rehearsal Jitters

Spot on, I sometimes do the same (mostly in studio situations where playing is under the microscope and for whatever reason I feel negative about that day) and it's such a simple technique to do.

Re: I was wrong.

I'll get a photo taken of the article when I track down where in the house I put the issue. It's a brief write up (as they didnt have a kit to test) but it's a mention in Modern Drummer, the most...

Re: Why Do Bands Have Two Drummers?

It's very poor camera work and even more horrible, out of sync editing. The MP3 is good for a listen though.

Re: How often do you break/drop your sticks?

I havent dropped a stick in years in a live setup. At home it happens from time to time as I try more risky fills/beats.

I hit hard but have not broken a stick in about 10 years as I replace them...

Re: Soundguys and drummers

I play the frantic London venue circuit with a couple of my bands and we very rarely get a souncheck.

My only interaction with the soundmen tends to be a quick "Hello, how are you" from me when...

Re: Why Do Bands Have Two Drummers?

I like it on some songs, but not a whole show.

One of my bands want to double track some drums to add more of a percussive element but when we have tried it in demos it doesnt work. Has to be...

Re: I was wrong.

Good news Andy,

About the above, well I was surprised the other month to open Modern Drummer and find a short feature on Guru.

I'd say the big boys are starting to take note.

Keep it up

Re: An attempt at a policy change here

I've no problem hearing about Guru drums and Andy's updates, I love hearing about them as he obviously has a massive enthusiasm about his company. Talking from experience as someone that's played...
