Re: Unexpected Craigslist fun

I had a similar experience one time where the guy and I just hit it off and hit drums for hours. Always fun when you meet decent like minded people.

Picked up a Mapex V series Jazz Kit...

So my dad called me from the flea market on the weekend and told me that someone was selling a used 5 piece Mapex V series Jazz kit (18 bass, 8, 10, 12 toms and a 12" snare). Came with a foot pedal...

Re: Poor Mapex

I own 2 Mapex kits so I'll chime in. They offer a great product for a great price and their sound is really awesome and modern. Their hardware is innovative and they are consistently trying to...

Re: used DW kit & ZBT cymbals for 30K ?!?

I'm going to e-mail him tomorrow as a "serious buyer" and try to find out who this "mysterious famous drummer" is.

used DW kit & ZBT cymbals for 30K ?!?

Came across this ad on Craigslist today; guy wants 30K for a used DW kit, gold Gibraltar hardware and Zildjian ZBT cymbals. They were supposedly made for a famous drummer..but that info is a secret. ...

Re: Pearl Roadshow vs other small kits (for a kid to learn on)

One of the members here, Frank, owns a couple of these kits. If he weighs in he will be able to give you some first hand experience. But I know from other posts that he is a fan.

Re: Mapex Mars vs Mapex Armory?

I would get the Armory kit because it is a step up. Although the Mars series sounds great for their price point, the finishes are horrible looking IMO. The Armory is a really great kit has some nice...

Re: Which Brass Snare???

That was from DW, not me. They clearly said the shells are similar so it is bizarre that the company says they are similar, but you say differently.

Re: 3 Instructors -- Help me choose.

Assuming they are all decent guys, I'd go with Hal. There is a huge difference between rock and jazz playing. There are many drummers on this site who can play anything, but some simply don't play...

Re: Repaint drums?

It is possible but it will look like garbage. I've refinished and painted drums before and it doesn't come out like you think it will. Your best options are to have a professional auto body place...

Re: Which Brass Snare???

It seems that the shells are very similar and it is the hardware and options that set the two apart. I wrote DW a while ago inquiring about the difference, here is the reply I received:

The...

Re: Tribute bands and original bands playing on the same night

I agree with Phil, people seeing tribute bands want to hear familiar songs and people seeing an indie band don't want to see 70s & 80s tribute bands. Just doesn't mix. But you never know... I'd just...

Re: Shaking Off the Rust

Welcome. Normally I would suggest finding a good instructor to assist you, but it seems you already know what you are doing. I think you should put the headphones on and just start playing again. It...

Re: Drum Center Of New Hampshire

So they sent me the wrong snare in error. I ordered a round badge and they sent one with the stop sign logo. Small difference I know, but I wanted the round badge to match my dad's 65 kit. Anyway, I...

Re: Which Brass Snare???

I think they are about the same. Both breaded 1mm brass shells. Depends if you want a DW logo or a PP logo.

I just bought a Gretsch brushed brass snare (waiting for delivery). They were just...

Re: Genres that you won't play?

I'm drawing the line at Polka, disco, and metal...the latter because I will never have the speed or stamina.
