Re: A New Journey

Boy, I've really gotta say that everyone here is the best. Even though we don't "personally" know each other, we all know each other. I guess it's the drumming brother/sisterhood thing.

A New Journey

I know by the forum rules that this probably has no place here on DW, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

On July 18 I was informed that I have metastasized melanoma cancer in my liver, spleen, and...

Re: New Drums Weekend!

Wait, you bought a new kit?

While I think it's really cool when members get a new drum set and show it off, It just gets confusing when you do it (no disrespect intended).

BTW, the color is...

Re: Stones backline

When you see photos of Bonzo in '79 & '80, his girth had definitely increased. His butt was just used to that kind of throne I guess.

Re: "Projection" of drums

Think about this:

A tighter tension on the reso head means the air (and sound (sound is energy, remember)) bounce more forcefully off the bottom head and back to the you, the drummer. That's why...

Re: Is the drummer population aging?

This is a good idea!

Maybe include: Country / State or county / Population of nearest [large] city.

County - Leinster
City - Dublin

Re: For Bermuda

It seems as if every video I watch to see YOU play I'm always looking at Al.

I know he's the boss, but kindly tell him to get the hell out of the way!! :-)

I'll be sure to check out Stitcher...

Re: Well this is humbling: Hit Like A Girl, Bonham edition

Ok, there's one for the totally cynical approach.

8 years-old? Pretty damned amazing if you ask me! I wish I could play the bass drum half as good as she does.

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

Hey, don't go giving hints on what my next thread is about. Let it happen without any interference.

And get a Paiste ride... any Paiste ride.

Worst Badge in the Business

Random question of the day:

"Who has the worst badge (or logo) in the drum business?"

My vote: Mapex. God-awful ugly design.

What are your thoughts?

Re: Drinking beer at a gig

I might have a beer maybe an hour before a gig, but it's mainly water. I don't even like to eat or drink anything that's sugary before I play.

Re: The hidden life of the drummer :(

It's not a conspiracy, nobody really cares about us except other drummers who DO want to watch us play - and they can't because everyone else ignorantly stands right in front of us. We might as well...

Re: Will DW be the next Gibson (financial woes) in the future?

Black Oyster Pearl is one of Ludwig's most classic and popular wraps. I am certainly not sick of it.

For more on this, just ask Bo.

Re: Ludwig Supraphonic - 5" or 6.5" depth?

I have both the LM400 & the LM402. Guess which one gets played the most?

If you guessed the 402 (6.5 inch), then you guessed right.

Now, would I ever give up the 400? Not a chance!

Re: The future of the drumset think tank

How about tightening all heads (Batter & Reso) to a certain "X" factor with each drum having a suspended mini-microphone built in. You could then adjust the tone, resonance, etc. of each drum...
