Re: Is Ringo a good drummer?

Oh, you're so wrong on that point...very sorry. ;) When my son was a toddler he was a regular watcher of Thomas the Tank Engine, and Ringo far out shined ol' George as Mr. Conductor.

And that from...

Maybe you hear yourself and you think, "well there it is again - same ol', same ol'." I get that way (kind of...

Re: Been documenting my snare drums more.

Re: Big maple fun :)

I just came to this thread today Andy. Wow!!!! Amazing drums. I'm pretty unsophisticated where is comes to some of the more "exotic" woods used in drums these days; I've always had a fondness for...

Re: Been documenting my snare drums more.

Great way to demonstrate the characteristics of each drum; You've got some wonderful snare drums there Bill. As others already said, excellent format.

As always, love your playing.

Re: No more jam sessions for me. I'm done

Amen to that Larry. Indeed the practice pad isn't the answer here. In my opinion some of the best advice on this thread, and especially the last three sentences.

We can be our own biggest obstacle...

Re: Sound affected by drum finishes/wraps PART 1

So, the next obvious question is, what color cape should a drummer be wearing in such circumstances?

Re: Is hard to make a living out of jazz? Are there any jobs out there?

Hey Jon, I don't think you're wrong. But I want to add Steamers Cafe in Fullerton for our fellow SoCal folks. About an hour south of L.A. and lots of jazz talent in there nightly. I love that place....

Re: Is it OK to talk about the movie "Whiplash" yet?

Yeah, he was going for the revenge. But like I said in my earlier post, who cares? I didn't like the character Andrew at all. Didn't care if he lost first chair in the band.

And, like all of what...

Didn't I hear somewhere that the French grip was banned during the German occupation of France?

Where is Kimberly Thompson's page?

Just like the thread title says. I wanted to look up her page on DW and maybe watch a vid of her playing. She doesn't appear on the list.

What happened?

Re: RUSH retirement rumor

The first Rush albums that I bought were 2112 and All the World' a Stage. I just about wore out the grooves in that vinyl.

Re: What was the first concert you went to????

Not sure if the first act counts as a concert; spring of 1977 I saw Tower of Power (sans Garibaldi) :( at the good Time Theater in Knotts Berry Farm.

That summer it was Kiss at the forum (this...

Re: DW Fans testers users, questions for you

My favorite piece of advise on this thread. Oftentimes folks get a little "antsy" at the thought of spending on something like this and look to see if someone can talk them into, or out of it.

I asked our singer if he can sing tenor. "No, I mean ten or twelve miles from here."

Re: What Metaphors Do You Use in Your Playing?

Bill Ray,

I really like your analogy. Although different in nature, it reminded me of something Billy Ward said regarding drums in a jazz band. He said, "the music is like a cocktail party; the...
