Re: Can you read sheet music?

Can I read sheet music? Yes...

Am I fluent enough to Read/play at a reasonable tempo? No, I can't... I admire guys that can sit down throw up a chart and play -- I can't see myself ever...

Re: Why the "hate" for nylon tips??

I never really liked the feel of them -- they do feel a little different. I've had them go flying off the stick as well on occasion... I'm kind of on the fence as for the difference in sound --...

Re: Ever forgotten your hihat clutch?

in the past 30+ years I've got more use out of my spare bass drum pedal than probably anything else... broken chain, springs even a bent beater shaft. Broken snare heads are probably next in...

Re: Ever forgotten your hihat clutch?

Almost... but luckily I found it at the last second! Since then I have like 3 of them in my stick bag.

Re: Is this "Unprofessional"

I wouldn't say 'unprofessional' -- maybe a learning moment for the drummer. Always bring everything you think you might need -- I've had a pair of brushes in my bag for years and have used them...

Re: In with both feet!

Congrats! You're putting in the work up-front and that'll surely pay off. Go in there and do your thing and hopefully it's a good fit.

Good Luck and welcome back to the drums!

Re: What makes a pro kit?

Exactly what I was getting ready to say... I'll admit, I don't really 'get' the whole vintage drum thing -- every vintage kit I've dealt with was trouble, some sounded better than others but they...

Re: For those who play at church or not.

Not that I need another reason -- but this serves as one more reason to stay the He-double hockey sticks out of church!

Re: Two floor toms....

I've often try 2 FT's -- 14 and 16... I like it, I like the looks of it, it opens up the creativity a bit... However, I find myself 'forcing' myself to use the extra floor tom early on... then...

Re: So how's this for bitter?

I'm surprised by how many live sound people act like their world is collapsing around them when confronted with a full BD resonant head! On the flipside, it's a joy to run into someone who doesn't...

Re: So...where do you keep your spare sticks?

I don't drop a lot of sticks - but when I do, more often than not, it's my right stick -- I just fish around in my stick back (also on my right) when it does happen.

Years ago I used to have a...

Re: Making the best out of a near disaster

Good thinking!! Adopt, adapt and improve - is that the saying?

I've never been in that situation, but I have forgotten cymbals already - luckily it was a multi-band gig and a generous soul...

the various 'red' drums all look fine together in the photos -- the orange/gold one? Not so much... but that's just me!

Not sure I could do such a thing -- Maybe if they were ALL different...

Re: The official, "Your services are no longer required" thread

Sorry to hear that - sucks, but it's just a corporate 're-org' essentially... it's not like you were let go for anything to do with your skills (or lack thereof) as a drummer. You got caught up in...

Re: HELP, permanent beastmode

Size doesn't matter - at least in this case.

My first thought is take a look at your technique - maybe see an instructor for a few sessions.

Your kit/cymbals are only going to get so loud,...

Re: Drummerworld inventors

It'd be cool if they made a bag or hard case with wheels maybe that you could put ALL your stands in and carry in/out of a gig at one time... Someone should definitely invent that. :-)
