Re: Drumming while Travelling

Or you can build a suitcase drum kit!
http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-Suitcase-Drum-Set/

But generally when away from my drums a pair of sticks and a pad with a lot of walking (I play...

Re: Hard decision

I went through this myself, and I decided to get a third kit!

Really, when you already got one or more kits you love, it's not a good idea to get rid of them. It's like choosing to get a dog over...

Re: Advices for 'Ringo' drumming

That's exactly how I feel about him. Each song I play makes me think "I'm pretty sure Ringo's feel was way better" haha. So hard to get it right.

But I'm glad I'm going through this. It's one of...

Re: Am I suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

I have a different problem I think, I had a motorcycle accident 5 or 6 years ago. My scaphoid was broken in my right wirst, and since it was never the same again. I can't 'feel' my hand the way I...

Re: Advices for 'Ringo' drumming

We're covering songs from the WHOLE discography of the band so I have homework to do, no worries about that.

I have some difficulties with that butter-the-bread stroke, it seems the first movement...

I checked out the Giant Beat ride and came across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UaW-SSITsU&feature=relmfu

Advices for 'Ringo' drumming

I'm in a Beatles cover band (or tribute band?) and I'm trying to find what are those little things that make Ringo's drumming special. Except his hair of course!

At the moment I'm especially...

Re: Tama Starclassics

Have you ever played a maple kit? Because that's what I got, and I was considering buying a birch one to get a more powerful sound.

Re: Music, drumming and mental illness

Damn. Don't take it personally but it seems half of the population in the USA has ADD or bipolar disorder.
I mean, it seems the diagnostics are being given a bit too fast. And ALSO, meds for this...

Re: christmas presents

Christmas was VERY nice this year, I got a 20" HHX Evolution Ride + the Latin Percussion Matt Sorum's percussion pack.

I'm waiting next year to get a new double bass pedal ;-) And I think it will...

Re: Metal Drumming - what kit should I use?

Yeah DW's sound is amazing, but if only they weren't so ugly! (In my eyes, at least). And yes, it seems deep shells are pretty common for metal. Igor Cavalera certainly agreed with this:...

Re: Drum Tuning - Tighten heads before tuning?

Thanks for all your replies!

'Seating' the head like I was doing does seem to distort the vibrations a bit. I tried both methods and find it easier to get a clear note when muffling the opposite...

Drum Tuning - Tighten heads before tuning?

So I've been talking with fellow drummers about drum tuning. As usual, we ran through a lot of urban legends about what to do or not.
The one thing that I still have doubts about is the tightening...

Metal Drumming - what kit should I use?

So I'm looking for the ideal drum kit for metal drumming. I know this is a subjective matter and only I know what's best for my taste but I need some advice on which type of wood or specifications I...

Re: tinnitus and drumming

I know what you're going through. I myself had an ear trauma 3 months ago, with hearing loss (which I got back in a few days), tinnitusES and last but not least hyperacusis. And I can tell you if it...

Re: Tommy Igoe's New DVD/Book for 2011

Pretty much this for me as well :)

Tommy is such a nice guy, watching his DVD's is also enjoyable when not sitting behind my drums.

Re: practicing my footing without a bass pedal

Walk! And I'm serious ;)

Your question made me think of a Dave Lombardo's clinic where he says he walks a lot to get his double pedal madness going!

Check it out:

Re: Moved the drums in my room - Sounds like crap?!

Which program are you talking about? Are we still talking about drums? :D

Yes, Uniin, the acoustics in my room are pretty weird. It's a pretty big room, but the space I have for the drums is at...

Moved the drums in my room - Sounds like crap?!

So I had my drum kit placed in the corner of my room, but since I renovated the place I had to move it in the middle.

And now, the kit seems like it's dead?

Suddenly the bass drum sounds like...

Re: Acoustic Traume - What are my hopes?

A little update about my condition.

Tinnituses are getting slighlty better, I still can't sleep without my bathroom radiator blowing useless wind but emits redeeming noise. But that's almost OK.

Re: Acoustic Traume - What are my hopes?

Well, hair cells damage in the ear causing tinnitus is a fact. And saying that ringing in the ears 'usually dies out by itself' is the kind of things I don't like to hear because it give the...
