Re: The old Pearl Exports??

Re: Yamaha Drums

Depends on your thinking, lighter is better, or heavier hardware is better?
Heavy weight drums don't specifically equate to quality... ask GURU.

The reason there's less material in the SC lug is...

Re: 2014 STAGE CUSTOM review ☞

Hardware (metal bits) aren't as big a concern for YAMAHA, they make all their own, they don't outsource. The big cost is (was) in labor, hence industries move to Mexico, China etc.

Who cares what...

Re: Yamaha Drums

For the record, 'all' YAMAHA lugs are made of pot metal, even the the gold plated (discontinued) MAPLE CUSTOM lugs.

STAGE CUSTOM (2014) uses the same lug size on BD's and toms. Below are pics of...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Same depth as LIVE CUSTOM'S (14X13, or 16x15)

STAGE CUSTOM 14 FT does have 6 lugs, I like the look actually. The sound is wonderful and the drum is lighter b/c of it.

Re: Help on identifying these vintage drums?

The seller not knowing what they are, what they're worth, is a plus for you. Its not your job to educate the seller per say and (if you feel) that being so, I would offer him $100

Depending on...

Re: Yamaha Drums

That's understandable, if you're used to the higher line YAMAHA stuff yes, STAGE CUSTOM will feel cheap.

But look what you get for 2014, ABSOLUTE lugs, the 945-B tom mounting system, YESS mounts,...

Re: RANT: Dissapointed in Sonor

Re: alternative tom arm/mounts for this kit...

Its across the board mate, not just MAPEX, there's limitations to every BD mounted tom mount.

Measure your main tube size first (that goes in the BD bracket), then measure the tube size on the...

Re: RANT: Dissapointed in Sonor

Oh dear, that's too bad.

SONOR does have zero control over what conditions people expose their drums to. What could you have done to save them? Who knows, conditioning the rubber may have...

Re: what's the effect of central lugs on the sound

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

They use them to protect the finish, avoid lacquer checking. Sonically, lug gaskets if they're perceived to limit sustain are a plus, no need for external dampening devices.

Do we need...

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

Expensive drums are for ppl who can hear a difference, cheap drums are for those who can't afford it.
