Re: Creating my own vintage natural finish?

Yeah it isn't too difficult at all, remove your heads, strip apart all the lugs and then slowly tease the wrap away. Hair dryers work well for warming up the glue and be sure to remove the staples...

Re: Snare Identification Help

You were right, it's a CB Steel Snare, but I was confused because it sounds great with appropriate tuning and fresh heads. It's well made and I find no fault with it !

Re: Help me match a snare with this kit??

I haven't played on any myself but I've read up on a lot of them and the only issue players noticed was that it produced a slightly higher pitched and more poppy crack than a more open and breathy...

Re: Help me match a snare with this kit??

There's always the option of a refinish if it's that important but personally I think a shiny steel snare will look beautiful with any kit, so go for a Slingerland COB or a Gretsch or the Supra like...

Re: Snare Identification Help

After doing some research it appears the lugs are more typical of asian made drums, the throw-off is actually from my own Mapex, as the original was bent and mangled and wouldn't work at all. So it's...

Re: Snare Identification Help

Finally got some pictures of it, like I say there are no markings whatsoever on it, no badges, numbers, indents or stickers. NOTHING.

Snare Identification Help

Hey there, I've got a challenge for you all.

I have a snare in my possession, it's from my school I've been allowed to borrow it over the summer. It was almost unplayable, the heads were trashed,...

Re: Slingerland 1970's Chrome Snare

Sorry I didn't understand that post too well, I was planning on trying to refurbish it to it's original state anyway but what was that about the lugs and springs ? Are they not the originals or...

Re: Slingerland 1970's Chrome Snare

Trying to identify it now, I've narrowed it down to either a Gene Krupa Sound King or just a regular Sound King.

I can't really tell if it's a 1970-72 Oval badge or the later 1973-86 "Football"...

Re: Drum refinishing

I've just stripped my five piece of it's wrap and I have the naked shells. I just have to sand and varnish a few times, then I'm hoping to spray it Gold Sparkle to get that retro look.
Any thoughts...

Re: Stanton Moore here

Stanton is definitely a well grounded drummer in terms of the style he fits into. A very confident player he knows what he's good at and does it very well. Really into the who second line and funk...
