My method is to stash $50.00 a paycheck to the side until I have enough for that drum, cymbal or whatever it is I want/need.
Without prying into personal finances here, I was wondering how other...

Re: Recurring dream - drum related

I had a dream (nightmare?) that I had my dream gig of a lifetime but couldn't find the sticks anywhere around me to use and the whole band was looking at me for the count-off. Apparently me or my...

And think to yourself 'Man, I sure am lucky to have such a nice instrument to own & play.'
This happened to me today while tuning and cleaning my kit. Just kinda stood back, stared, and then...

Re: Tuning "experts" mini rant

Ha! You're right that is starting to happen!
Ya know these so-called "Expert" Village videos seemed at first to be complete parodies, kinda like SNL skits. Then I realized that these people are...

Re: If you could build you DREAM KIT, what would it be/include? (Shells, cymbals, hardware, etc.)

I've got the snare (almost) that I dream of a Sonor Prolite Brass 6x14
I've got the cymbals I want.

I'd love to have Noble & Cooley build me a Horizon ply kit made of cherry shells. In a custom...

Re: Tuning "experts" mini rant

I agree with Bermuda about the internet. At one time there was a mechanism in place that allowed someone to be published, now anyone that's online can print or display whatever they can dream up and...

Re: Signs you're getting better at the drums

When you understand why practicing a money beat for three minutes (without any fills) is beneficial.

Re: Seriously? This can't be real.

"No more horrible ring" speaks a lot about the tuning of that drum. The ring is natural, what's horrible are the confused and conflicting overtones I'm hearing.
This product is basically the same...

Re: Do you feel sorry for today's kids?

The thing lacking the most today vs 30-40 years ago are the playing opportunities in both public school bands (budgets get slashed-the arts take the hit) and the nightclub scene which offered live...
