Re: Two Piece Bands

Thanks for the comments guys! So far this is very encouraging.

Fabo - I would love to hear your band! Sounds like you've got a good thing going there.

cap'n - I plan on using my Bonham set for...

Two Piece Bands

Hey everyone. I haven't been around, even to lurk, very much in the past few months. School's been keeping me busy. I don't play as much as I used to, or would like to.
The rock trio I've been a...

Re: How many of you use a 20" kick. Not just for jazz but everything you play?

I have a 20x18 kick with my Premier set that I have gigged with for the last 2+ years, but I recently bought a Ludwig set in Bonham sizes...

I never had a problem with the 20", and have been...

Re: How to silence cymbals in video shoot?

I think what he's saying is that it would be much easier on everyone's ears during a shoot if the cymbals were muted. Obviously you can mute your drums so that they are practically silent, but...

Re: Selling drum kits

I sold my very first set to a cousin of a friend of mine. Never hurts to ask people you know if they or someone they know is looking to buy something.
Then again, this was a beginner set, which I...

Re: Happy 70th Birthday Ringo!

I saw him play in Niagara Falls a few weeks ago. He's still got it.

Happy Birthday Ringo!

Re: Drumming footwear

Another one for Chucks. I'm sure if I practiced in different shoes I could get used to drumming in them, but that hasn't happened yet. I do socks too, maybe more often than Converse now that I think...

Re: Ringo was awesome live with The Beatles

Casino Niagara. I'm pretty sure he only really does the casino tours now.

Re: Ideal 4 piece kit shell sizes?

Like the others, it really all depends on a lot. I have 20, 12, 14, and a 14" snare, but I'd love a 16" floor, maybe a 13" rack, 26 or (and?!) 24 bass drums. All in the same finish too. Mixing and...

Re: Alexisonfire - Mailbox Arson

I can't help you, but that is a bitchin song! Hopefully someone here does know.
Have you ever watched them play it live? There are probably some videos on youtube that you could watch and see what...

Re: New Rogers

That's a shame. Hopefully they can become more prominent someday, like they used to be.
My high school had on old Rogers Holiday set and it was great!

New Rogers

Rogers Drums have been kind of making a comeback, or trying to. I don't really know much about the quality of these as reviews are hard to come by online. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried one...

Re: Hi Hat Rod

I don't cut it, just in case I decide I'd like to try them at a different height. Also I play 18" hats, which are obviously heavier, so I have to give them a little more space on the rod than more...

Re: Are you one of them?

I like to think I play musically and play only as hard or as soft as is required. May not come across that way to the audience, but I'm having a blast :D

Re: What you wear on your feet.

Hi or low top, doesn't matter. Or in socks/barefeet. Nothing else that I've tried feels right on the kick pedal.

Fab Moretti of The Strokes used to use this setup.

Re: playing along with songs.

I play along to songs quite a bit. More interesting than other practice methods, I find.
For the most part I play what the original drummer is doing, or close to it. Doing this has helped me learn...

Re: Ludwig Cherry/Gum Element SE

I am seriously considering selling my Premier Cabria and picking up one of these in the Downbeat configuration!

Re: I WANT to break my cymbal!!!! How?????

^ Agreed.

I'm sure there's someone who would be happy to take your used, still-in-one piece cymbal off your hands.

Re: Truth drums or SJC?

I've heard great things about C&C as well. But if you're only looking at those 2 companies I'd probably go with SJC. They have some amazing finishes and custom jobs.
